Poor Communication

The residence inn is a nice hotel, but I sadly didn’t get to even see the room because they overbooked without communication. I wish they would have called me earlier to tell me this news, but decided to wait until I arrived at 8pm to share that I didn’t have a room. Thankfully they had a sister hotel nearby.

Incredible overnight stay to break up our journey, as a family of 4 there was so much space in the room. Very luxurious comfy beds, and great value for money! Would highly recommend!!

We stayed at the Residence Inn for 8 nights. We had a king size bed that was the perfect firmness. Aitana, front desk receptionist, helped secure a stovetop for our room & was extremely helpful during our stay. I had VIP access and received a nice small bottle of medium sweet white wine. It was delicious. On my birthday, we returned from Ghent to find balloons on the bed and a lovely card & bottle of wine! There is a bus across the street that takes you to Ghent train station where you can walk or take trams to the centrum. Ghent is my favorite city in Belgium! If you have a car, Brugge is not that far. We scored tickets to a Brugge Club match. Nearby the hotel is an Albert Heijn supermarket where we purchased food & beverages. There is also a futbol stadium nearby. Great stay! Outside of the city but super convenient to highways & transportation.

We got a family room and we were surprised with everything that was provided in the room. You can choose to cook, there’s microwave/oven, dishwasher, even ironing board and iron. Lots of room to store our luggage. Very, very nice, clean and comfortable hotel room. The only thing that I would suggest to improve is to have a nightlight option to use the toilet in the middle of the night because the bathroom wall is a white glass and if you turn on the bathroom light it brightens the entire bedroom (not great when you have small children). Easy fix though. Besides that, breakfast was okay, we just didn’t like how crowded it was, very difficult to get the food and walk around (we were on the last corner table away from the buffet and we had to squeeze in between tables to bring our food to our table). On a next time I would try to get breakfast earlier and I believe it would be easier. We would totally go back to this hotel when staying again in Ghent.
