The property listing on Expedia was misleading. The hotel prominently shows photos of an infinity pool, but access to this pool is restricted only to “Signature” level guests. Regular guests cannot use it, and this important limitation was not disclosed at the time of booking.
I booked based on these photos and felt misled when I learned about the restriction. When I raised the issue with Expedia, they dismissed my complaint, saying the property “does have a pool and the pool is open,” even though the advertising was deceptive. Open pool is not the same as available pool.
Because of this experience, I have filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau and with the Federal Trade Commission / Attorney General regarding deceptive advertising practices.
