Just 15 minutes from the beautiful medieval town of Barga and around 40 minutes from Lucca, it's also ideally situated for exploring this wonderful and less-touristy corner of Tuscany.

The accommodation

Arranged over three floors, Zia Iole is well equipped for a relaxed self-catering holiday, with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy time together or find a quiet corner of their own.

The main living and dining room has comfortable seating, TV and WiFi, while the kitchen includes an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.

There are three double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms, along with four shower rooms, including one en-suite.

One double and one twin bedroom form a large family sleeping area, separated by a substantial wardrobe rather than a full wall and door. This arrangement can work particularly well for parents travelling with children.

On the lower ground floor, a second kitchen and dining area provides additional space and flexibility, with direct access to the garden. There's also a washing machine.

Outside

The large private garden is a lovely place to enjoy the Tuscan sunshine, with mountain views, outdoor dining space, a barbecue and plenty of room to relax.

The private above-ground swimming pool (6.5m x 4m) is ideal for cooling off on warm summer days, while the terrace provides a pleasant spot for leisurely meals or an evening drink.

Private parking is also available.

Explore beautiful northern Tuscany

Zia Iole is situated in the beautiful Media Valle, an area known for its traditional villages, stunning scenery and authentic Tuscan atmosphere.

The pretty hillside village of Cardoso is just 3km away, with a traditional restaurant, small shop and summer village festivals. There are other restaurants nearby, including a popular lakeside restaurant, while Gallicano, less than 10 minutes away by car, has a large supermarket and other amenities.

Lucca – 40 minutes: One of Tuscany's most charming cities, famous for its Renaissance walls, atmospheric piazzas, independent shops and restaurants.

Garfagnana – from 15–20 minutes: Explore traditional mountain villages, walking trails, spectacular scenery and beautiful natural parks.

Grotta del Vento – 35 minutes: Discover the fascinating underground caves of the Apuan Alps.

Pisa – approximately 1 hour: Visit the famous Leaning Tower and historic city centre.

Orrido di Botri – approximately 45 minutes: Explore a spectacular natural canyon surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery.
