I just stayed one night at Hotel Orquidea tobe in the center of Funchal after a week's walking holiday. The hotel is basic looking but in a great location and with a balcony. Breakfast was also nice and the staff very friendly and helpful. For the money I paid I thought it was really good value.

It's a nice three stars hotel, a little bit old but comfortable and not far from the center of Funchal, so you will be at walking distance of almost everything. Breakfast was nice, and the hotel staff was friendly.

Nice hotel in convenient location

We spent 2 nights here which we really enjoyed. Its close to the old town with its many great restaurants and bars. We ate breakfasts here and they were very nice. We also enjoyed a few drinks on the roof terrace.

The staff was very helpful. There's a 24 hour paid parking lot right behind the hotel if you need parking (we used this - 5 EUR/day) The location is quite central and walking distance to the city center (~15 - 20 mins)
