Moonrise Retreat, a taste of hill country beauty and peace

The two-story cabin offers ample space, excellent beds and furnishings, original oil paintings by hill country artists, views, a new walk-in shower upstairs, and comfy king beds.

We have a 220 Volt EV charger available upon request for a $20 charge.

We are extremely dedicated to cleaning, sanitizing all surfaces, and washing all bed linens for every new guest.

It is a great place for up to 9 people to get away for a weekend or for a family to reconnect for a week in the country air. The road to the cabin is a dead-end road, so there is very little traffic. A great place to walk and bike. A wonderful place to sit on the balcony and look over the Palo Alto Creek Valley with a glass of wine and watch the moon rise! If you are a cyclist, it is the perfect location to connect to the best biking roads in the hill country.


A beautiful place to retreat....: This is a beautiful place to let your hair down and enjoy the views of the Texas Hill Country. This cabin is located on a farm with cows, chickens, clean air, peace and quiet. It is only 3.5 miles from downtown Fredericksburg, so the shopping, restaurants, and fun are 10 minutes away.

We have a base price that adjusts per season for six guests. We charge $35.00 per day for each guest over six.

We have elegant, clean linens that are ALL laundered for each guest. We provide all of essentials you need for any length of stay.

The kitchen and gas grill have all of cooking essentials to make great meals for your friends and family. We provide coffee and teas and creamer for you to enjoy.

We have a pac and play if you need one! We have swings and a small bike and tractor for your children to play with!

This is a space that you will love to make your next vacation spot!
There's a private balcony or patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and a Smart television is provided for your entertainment. The bathroom has a shower and a hair dryer. Conveniences include a microwave and a coffee/tea maker, and housekeeping is provided on request.

Beautiful Moonrise Retreat!

This beautiful home is aptly named. We watched the moon rise dramatically one night and saw a beautiful sunrise the next morning. So convenient to Fredericksburg and Enchanted Rock and so clean and comfortable. This was our second time to stay here--and it will not be our last!

Anniversary get away with best friends!

A beautiful, quiet place to enjoy sitting outdoors. A perfect place to relax as a couple or with others. A little disappointed that Mother Nature didn’t allow us to enjoy a fire in the fire ring but the rules are the rules! Very clean, and comfortable! Watching the wildlife across the fence and the of the sunrise and sunset amazing! We chose not to try out the hot tub but it did look very tempting. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Beautiful home in the country

What a lovely place to look at the stars and see a beautiful sunrise. It’s only a short jaunt to the historical district in Fredericksburg and Enchanted Rock. And those big beds are so comfortable! We enjoyed grilling, hanging out on the back patio, and relaxing in the hot tub. I have already made a reservation for next year!

Peaceful wine country weekend

My family stayed here for a cousins wedding weekend. The property was lovely and peaceful. They even allowed me to bring my elderly dog, which was a wonderful last trip for her. I recommend this place!

Great place and location

The house is exactly as it appears online. The location is very rural, although it’s on 9 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg. Deer and cattle all around, fireflies at night, and no road noise! Perfect place for 6 friends to catch up and use as home base for winery tours.

Moonrise Retreat-Fantastic Time with Family

My 3 grown daughters and I truly enjoyed our time at the Moonrise Retreat. The house was amazing, the view from both the lower and upper decks was fantastic, and the distance from Fredricksburg was perfect (3-4 miles). I would encourage anyone who needs a relaxing. break from the craziness of life to stay, relax and unwind at this beautiful home!

Great place to stay outside of town

This was a perfect place for a couple's getaway to the Fredericksburg area. We had only 2 couples, but could have easily had another couple stay with us at this property...it was very roomy. We loved sitting on the back porch and drinking coffee or relaxing in the evenings. The hot tub was great, and the fire pit was awesome. The beds were super comfy, and the house had all the extra touches that make a vacation rental really great. And it was so quiet out there! It was wonderful to come back to that quiet after spending the days in the busy main Street area.

Wonderful stay

We absolutely loved the house, and our family had a wonderful time. The house was extremely clean and roomy, with everything we needed to have a great time. We enjoyed the views from the deck and having a relaxing cup of coffee on the patio while taking in the sunrise over the hills. The stargazing at night was also fantastic. In addition we got to "meet" the horses and chickens that live nearby. This was a fun, super relaxing place to stay, and the owners were friendly and very accommodating. We look forward to coming back in the future.

No hot tub or working water

I have never had a bad experience at a VRBO or B&B but I guess there is a first time for everything. Major amenities which were key to my selection were missing or unusable (hot tub and fire pit) and I was not notified until arrival. Fire ban prevented use of the fire pit but having the common courtesy to notify me at time of booking would have been nice. Additionally, if I’d know there was no hot tub I would have asked for a refund and found another place. Simple as that. Instead I found out on arrival. Further, the cleanliness was subpar (dog pee stains in the upstairs hallways). The property was hodgepodge and rundown for my standards (holes in walls, fixtures ill-installed, curtain holdbacks hanging out of the wall barely attached, etc). Functionality was lacking (low water pressure and a sulphur/sewage smell in the downstairs bedroom shower). In fact we couldn’t even fill the jacuzzi tub half way after 45 mins because the water pressure was so bad. And on Sunday morning while my wife was mid-shower the water stopped working entirely. That’s right—we lacked basic services Sunday morning as we were trying to get ready for Church. I contacted the owner at this point and they did restore water by the time we returned but it’s just not acceptable especially combined with everything else. One or two of these things happen and your shrug your shoulder but paying this much a night for a place so defunct and rundown is simply not ok. Upon return I notified the owner of my complaints thinking the honest criticism would be appreciated and give them an opportunity to rectify several fixable issues. Sadly, it was not. She took my critique personally and told me I was the “second worst guest” they have ever hosted... An almost humorous label since this title is entirely because of my post-stay feedback and had nothing to do with my actual vacation. It’s classic victim blaming... I payed a premium for a subpar rental lacking advertised amenities and had major unjustifiable issues but in her mind I’m the problem in this equation. Not the missing hot tub or the lack of water but my attitude is at fault. Pretty funny how oblivious some people are to reality. To be fair she made some trivial attempts to rectify the hot tub and water problem but when you have so many surprises and issues it becomes an insufficient gesture.

Fantastic house and location, and a great host!

Five friends and I stayed at Moonrise retreat for a long weekend, and we loved it! The location out in the country was just what we wanted and we loved all the animals around. The house itself was also very nice and very clean, and all the beds were comfortable. Laurie was fabulous and very easy to communicate with both before, during, and after the weekend. I accidentally left an item at the house and she has been very helpful in coordinating to get it back. Between the great house and the great host, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet house within a quick drive of Fredericksburg!

A wonderful escape from city life

Moonrise retreat was amazing. The views, the night sky, the clean air, the hot tub and fire pit... everything is working for this place. The interior is roomy, cozy, and comfortable. The owners are helpful, friendly, and responsive. We had one little issue (that we caused without knowing) and within minutes they solved it for us. We would love to go again!

This was our second time renting this home and basically that says it all. Laurie is a fantastic host and we are grateful that she provides this rental because it has everything we needed for a relaxing vacation away from the big city rat race. The location was so convenient to everything we wanted; downtown Fredericksburg shopping, visiting friends in Lano/Kingsland, side trips to Kerrville and Luckenbach, and of course a visit to the “rock” (Enchanted that is)! This was indeed a wonderful vacation and vacation home rental.
