Keep in mind the hotel is well over 100 years old. It has been lovingly maintained though the upstairs porches are not safe , the wraparound veranda downstairs is excellent for relaxing. This is a great spot to stay while you visit the McDonald Observatory, Davis Mountain scenic route,Chihuahuan-desert botanical garden and Marfa,Tx. Most of all the staff are very helpful and kind..

Loved this place! Oozing with history and early 20th century charm. So historical. Came here late June 2026. Went to a star party at McDonald Observatory the night we stayed here and Fort Davis next morning. No food options in the hotel, but that is not an issue. Several options nearby. Room was clean, comfortable, large, had high ceilings, and cool. Bathroom kind of tiny and minimal counter space. Not a big deal though when you factor in the other positive elements. Kids enjoyed the shared pool that was a short walk away. Would absolutely stay here again.

The hotel room was clean. It was very nice. The bathroom was clean. The staff that we dealt with were very nice. What was not cool was that we chose to stay at this hotel because there was a steakhouse and a coffee house attached with the hotel and that's what sold us. However, both of those are closed. We got no notification about it and there was no discounted rate. Being that Fort Davis is a small town there are not a lot of places to go and for the steak dinner that we thought we were going to get we had to travel to Alpine. However, everything else was okay. Not a lot of food choices there.
