Loved how quiet and dark the area was. Great hospitality also from the crew at the Bad Rabbit Cafe on the property. My cabin was a simple one which was what i was looking for. Only minor improvement I would wish for was an updated window unit-A/C so i could have made the room ice cold to sleep in. 9 out of 10 stars and will definitively be coming back for the peace and quiet at the Terlingua Ranch Lodge !
Place was amazing. Just know what you’re getting into. First off know that you’re off the grid. And there is absolutely zero cell phone signal and while there are certain locations on the ranch that does have Wi-Fi my particular cabin did not. Secondly, you do have to go on a 3 mile dirt road after traveling approximately 13 to 15 miles off the beaten path. I particularly didn’t mind this. In fact this is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a place to where I could shoot photography for the stars a place that was dark and so having an area that was off, the beaten path was exactly what I wanted. They had a restaurant there that had absolutely fantastic food. They also had a pool which I did not use. Apparently, according to what I read, you can fly into there if you should so shall choose. As there is an airfield. When you read about their history, you can take in the fact that they once partnered with the Shelby corporation to establish the Terilinga racing league. There’s a lot of history there. There’s also hiking which I did take part in do so at your own risk.
Outside of the lodge, you’re about 20-40 minutes from Big Bend national Park. There’s also a big bend State park. Furthermore, there’s a Terilinga ghost town which has fantastic ice cream and a place called the starlight theater that had live music too!
Overall, if you know what you’re getting into it’s a wonderful place to go and I quite literally enjoyed my stay there And I am eager to go and return.
We really enjoyed everything about our stay. The room was clean and had everything we needed. There is a pool in the property that is very clean and you cannot beat the views there. The cafe on sight was delicious as well. The only thing that we wished we would have known ahead of time is that you must drive down a very, very long dirt road to get there. It you want a quiet place in the desert, this is your place!
Once we got to our room it was lovely.
I either didn't read all things well, or misunderstood that the lodge was 15 miles (last 3 unpaved) down a road.
It was more remote than I thought, off the grid but with nice amenities once there.
If you want to diconnect and relax, this is the place!
I liked the quietness and solitude. Staff were excellent.
The cafe offered very good food and service. Bo and wife Alex were a lot of help along with Patti in the office
It's way off the highway! No tv, radio or cell phone reception. GREAT!! They do have good fast WIFI.
Onsite restaurant serves good meal variety at resonable prices. Interesting Carroll Shelby history.

Liked: Staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Please keep in mind that this property accessible by Unpaved roads only.
Very dated accommodations, window unit AC that smelled, beware that this is 16 miles off main road, 3 miles down a gravel road and approximately 45min from any eating establishment other than their own.
I really enjoyed our little Mountain View cabin. We ate at the Bad Rabbit every day and Beau was our server. Enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the stars come out. The decor is rustic and different. The pool was fantastic and refreshing after spending the day in the day desert heat. The staff is all very friendly and accommodating. I loved parking right next to our cabin. My only suggestion would be a bench in the closet area to help with suitcases and changing clothes.
A bit of a drive down the road but definitely worth it. The stars were beautiful and the drive to big bend was shorter than expected. Definitely worth it
