Communication with the host was fantastic until I arrived. The evening that I arrived there was a very strong poison smell in the apartment. I kept trying to message the host and I wasn’t getting any response. After sleeping with shirts over our face the next morning I continue to try to contact the host to no avail. I contacted Vrbo, which was even worse. I kept getting put into some kind of phone hell and having to explain to new people what happened. They could also not contact the host for at least half a day. That is when I discovered ants all over the stairs. When we arrived, it was dark so I did not notice the insects, but this is definitely the origin of someone spraying poison in this apartment. I had to leave for meetings and was out of cellular range until the afternoon. There’s no way I could return to stay. I notified VRBO that I would not be returning to the apartment and I could not stay in an apartment that had poison sprayed in it.. I told them I could not return to the apartment. I had to rebook at a local hotel since we were in the middle of our trip. Vrbo did not help at all do not believe any of the advertising that they help because all they told me was that it was up to the host whether or not I even got refunded. I did receive a partial refund but that was after constantly messaging and communicating for the entire rest of my trip. Extremely disappointing. Book with caution.
