Stay in Hampshire`s Historic Old Police Station

For more than 165 years, generations of people have passed through these doors. Now, for the first time, they`re open to you.

Believed to be one of Hampshire`s oldest surviving purpose-built police stations, it was once home to generations of police officers and their families, from Victorian sergeants to modern-day police staff.

Today, this remarkable Grade II listed building begins its next chapter, welcoming guests to experience a piece of living history.

Lovingly restored, The Old Police Station combines original heritage with contemporary comfort. Original Victorian cell doors, vaulted former police cells and period architectural details remain, while elegant interiors create a warm and luxurious retreat designed for modern family living.

Whether you`re gathering around the dining table after a day exploring the New Forest, enjoying a morning coffee in the sunshine, or sharing stories beneath the same roof that has witnessed generations of family life, this is more than somewhere to stay – it`s somewhere to experience.

Outside, the large south-facing garden invites long summer lunches, children`s games and relaxed evenings under the stars. The private games and fitness room, complete with pool table and gym equipment, offers another place to unwind whatever the weather.

Step beyond the gates and you`re just a short stroll from Fordingbridge`s independent cafés, traditional pubs, riverside walks and local shops. The New Forest National Park is only minutes away, offering ancient woodland, free-roaming ponies, cycling trails and some of southern England`s most beautiful landscapes.

Whether you`re planning a family holiday, celebrating with friends, discovering the New Forest or simply looking for somewhere unlike anywhere else, The Old Police Station offers an experience that cannot be recreated.

For over a century and a half this building has welcomed those who lived and worked within its walls.

Now, its doors are open for you.

This may be the best VRBO our family has stayed at! It has such a fun unique history as a police station and the kids loved the well-appointed game room (in an old jail cell!) and things to do outside in the back. The gym was a nice bonus and off-street parking in the back was a lifesaver. Everything inside was very nice, clean and had everything we needed. This location is a fantastic spot for exploring - You can easily walk to lots of fun shops (lego store is a must), restaurants (Raj of India across the street was great), and the beautiful riverside recreation ground. Short drives into the New Forest are well worth it as well, there is so much beauty to explore here.

What an amazing property! We stayed for 4 nights - 3 adults, two boys (3 & 5) and a dog, and had the most amazing time! The pictures don't do this house justice, it's absolutely stunning. Everything in the house is perfect and like new, the kitchen was beautifully equipped with everything we needed to cook full meals and eat in a few of the nights, plus a lovely welcome basket! The house is massive! The lounge is lovely and cosy, and there's a bonus kids playroom in one of the old converted prison cells which our boys adored - again, well stocked with toys and even a PlayStation!Upstairs the two main rooms are huge with lovely large beds. There's also a twin room which was perfect for the boys and a third double we didn't need to use. The bathrooms are lovely - a large walk-in shower in one of them with a huge shower head, and a large bath in the second one.Outside there is a pretty garden with a games room and secure parking - sadly we came in October and it was a little wet (plus we were out exploring most of the time) so didn't make full use of the garden but I imagine it's beautiful to sit out in and dine in the summer. There's also parking at the back which was easy to access and more than big enough for both of our large cars.Fordingbridge itself is lovely, the house is walking distance to the centre of the town - can very much recommend The George pub for food.Communication with Katy was great, we had a couple of queries and she was quick to respond. Thank you!!
