Hotel Monami is a hidden gem in an area surrounded by natural beauty and vibrant life, right on the lake. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Santiago, the owner lives on location and is a fantastic human being. The rustic cabins blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings, and the price is great. The area is ideal for conscious, educated and discerning travelers seeking a peaceful retreat within a sustainable yet elegant and eco-friendly tourism setting. After 35 years, this place has recovered its ecological environment and is immersed in the jungle around El Remate. Howler monkeys and myriads of birds are your natural alarm-clock that wakes you up at dawn. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The food is great and natural. I do not recommend this to "cheap" travellers as it is a place that deserves respect and is intended for cultural explorers. Recommended for solo travellers, explorers, couples and eco-conscious families who want to blend with nature and locals in a touristic area near TIKAL Archeological area.
