Welcome to Treetop Lodge, it's a special, magical place to stay. Situated in 10 acres of private ancient woodland on the edge of the Surrey Hills.
Escape into nature and stay warmed by a roaring fire and watch the wildlife stroll past your windows; looking out into woodland in all directions.
The hill was part of Winston Churchill's GHQ line from Bristol to London and pillboxes can be found in the grounds, including one that provides the foundation for this unique structure.
The space
The space provides a cosy, retreat whilst allowing you to watch nature from the comfort of your bed! The main room provides a woodburner for heating and cooking with both hob space and a small oven compartment, a clothes rail, two bedside drawers, fairy lights, a 42" flatscreen TV connected to a blu-ray/DVD player (note there is no access to standard TV channels, a Amazon Fire TV Stick (note you'll have to provide internet access via a mobile connection), (also we have a wide range of DVD's underneath the bed if you would like to watch something), a small fridge, air fryer, microwave, as well as cook with a frying pan, pot or kettle on the top of the woodburner, alongside a dual induction hob which provide basic cooking/food capability. The primary living space and kitchenette doesn't have a sink, so a plastic bowl is used for this function with hot/cold water available just a few steps away. Fairy-lights are threaded throughout the beams and roof space, and table lamps are provided either side, alongside a digital radio and bluetooth music system.
The spot provides a lovely space to switch off, relax and enjoy the natural environment.
It is well insulated and surrounded by trees so in winter it warms easily through the use of the woodburner once up to temperature and in summer it is naturally very cool so air conditioning is not needed.
Note - Access to the property is via a 150m route over a steep uneven grass hillside. This property is NOT suitable for people with mobility problems. If you have any questions regarding access please contact us via an enquiry in advance before booking.
Guest access
The treehouse/lodge is located in 10 acres of private grounds and woodland that you are welcome to explore. Around the treehouse are woodland trails and a bench to sit and enjoy the location. This is a rural location, with access is via a steep grass covered hillside with little lighting, so good movement and fitness is needed, there is uneven ground and care should be taken, with the use of a torch best at night. The car park is situated approx 150m away, therefore you might want to minimise trips/have luggage that can be transported easily across grassland. PLEASE do not book this listing if you have reduced mobility, if you require additional information please contact us via the enquiry option.
Other things to note
The treehouse has mains electricity and water. Due to the isolation of the treehouse and the length of electricity cable to supply the property you will need to be careful not to utilise too many high voltage items at the same time e.g. microwave, air fryer, bathroom heater or bathroom hot water. There will be wood, kindling, paper and lighter supplied for the use of the Woodburner. There is a cold water tap on the right hand side of the outside as you go up the stairs. There is excellent 5G/4G coverage for the Vodafone network, I do not know for others phone providers. WiFi access is available only via an external WiFI hotspot near the main house/car park. Primary lighting is via three sets of fairy lights entwined around the beams of the structure. These are controlled via a multi-socket extension and may be switched on/off on either the wall socket or individually on the switches on the extension or the individual control boxes.
The bathroom is separate from the main cabin space and accessed down a short set of external stairs, but comes with a shower, W/C, basin and electric radiator. Hot water is provided by a hot water tank on a timer.
October to March - We provide a basket of logs and 1/4 bag of kindling per day.
April to September - We provide 1/2 a basket of logs and 1/8 a bag of kindling per day.
Additional wood and kindling can be purchased at a cost of £15 per basket of wood and £8 per bag of kindling.
There is a huge range of wildlife nearby with multiple types of deer, badgers, foxes, woodpeckers, pheasant, buzzards, Red Kites, Owls, squirrels and many more...
There are fantastic walks nearby with Caesars Camp with clear views of London's skyscrapers on a clear day nearby or in 20 minutes you can walk into Farnham town centre (or 5 mins drive) with all the amenities you could want.
