I do have to mention that both Bethpage Black (Ryder Cup) and the Farmingdale Village are both a 4-minute ride and a 25-minute walk. You will also have the Farmingdale train station near you (5-minute ride/ 30-minute walk). I almost forgot to mention the Bethpage Trail, which is a beautiful trail the locals go to walk or ride their bikes on. It's a very short walk to get there and we recommend it!
