Not ideal for a longer stay

We stayed 5 nights at the Howard Johnson hotel in Evansville for the Fall Festival and to visit family. This hotel needed major renovations and updating. It felt like we were in a hotel from the 90s and no upgrades were ever done since then. However, the hotel staff were friendly. Special thanks to Ms. Peggy, one of the housekeeping staff, who exemplified amazing customer service. She was very so personable and hospitable. She made our stay more pleasant. We did encounter a bug during our stay and that was all she wrote. Though we had some positive experiences, that is not enough to return for next year’s stay. This hotel is only meant for a one night stay and not for an extended stay. We will be staying in another hotel in 2026. I hope Wyndham will make some major changes to improve the appearance of this hotel.

Definitely not the Hilton but it was clean, beds were comfortable & staff was great. It’s just that the room doors were SOOOO LOUD allllll night long slamming shut every 5 seconds. No sleep :(

Friendly service and the rooms are clean. I would recommend taking your own pillow. The pillows were all lumpy like polyester was just clumped and shoved in a pillow case.

The beds were comfortable. Breakfast options... limited. Parking adequate. Lots of disrepair. Our toilet rested on a tile floor & was not secure, wobbled. The bathtub faucet handle wasn't secure & required lots of movement before the temperature would change. The drywall was torn & showed signs of moisture within. The "secure" entry at the end of our wing was not functional.

Completely confused on the good reviews online from this establishment. This place is awful. The room was extremely dirty with animal urine on the wall, dead bugs, and a strong odor of musty urine and mold. We were offered a different room which when we entered that room smelled strong of musty mold. This room was "cleaner", but the smell and the air flow was not working. As we were leaving (we didn't stay here, we checked out 30 mins after arriving and had to find a different hotel), there was an actual "business deal" happening in the parking lot. Just totally unsafe. I did get my money back thankfully so I was happy about that as I had to pay for an entire different hotel for my family.

decent hotel

it's a little older but not a bad place to stay. clean enough. lots of food in the area that's walk able. Plenty of parking. Do not stay because they have breakfast. The breakfast is garbage. Coffee isn't bad though.

Conveniently located facility by the mall, but the breakfast was lacking in options and nutrition, and we had a roach crawling on us during the night. Little was offered as remedy other than some minimal Wyndham rewards points that likely will not be of benefit to us. The pool was a positive and useful feature, but pool towels were unavailable.

Never staying here again

Checked into room 163. The shower knob looked like it was about to fall off went to front desk immediately to let them know. They quickly sent a maintenance man that put a brand new shower knob on. Then he tried to fix the vizo tv. It wouldn't work for some reason. At first front desk didn't want to move me bc said they were booked up (looking at parking lot we checked in late could tell they other rooms.) Another staff memeber that works there but was off had tried to help with tv remote as well. After 2 people wouldn't get it to work, got moved to 165. Not long after moving to 165 seen a bug on bed. When went back shortly after switching rooms a lady was working there now. She took picture and told me to wait. They offered to switch rooms. Honestly, wasn't sure if next room would be worse, we were tired been up since 5am and the whole ordeal took a while so our food was cold, and I don't want to be that person to complain. Was told staff would take a while to change sheets. I told them if gonna be a while give me gloves and all new sheets. I changed sheets myself with provided gloves. Staff did call to see everything was ok. I asked about a manager, will get email when check out. The bathroom sink didn't find out til much later on and was too tired to go to front desk it does not or is a slow drain. Breakfast area was very clean. No breakfast meats the day I went. Hopefully shower and checkout will have no issues.
