Hosted wedding until beyond 4am!! Ruined trip!
OK the good, the room was clean, housekeeping every couple days.
Bed barely fit me at 6 foot tall and first night I had a wafer biscuit for a pillow. Cramped room, no space. Soap was removed on second night bizarrely from room and not replaced. Car park unsecured and unlit so feared for contents. Also was charged for breakfast despite never receiving any due to chef being "ill". So that's over ten to thirteen euros per night they effectively stole off me without a refund. Room was already expensive for the barebones setup.
But worst of all, they hosted a wedding party on Saturday night until past 4am in the morning and we never received notification of this. Nothing on website or email and I never got told during my stay. So for 6 hours on the eve of my 8 hour drive home I was 50ft away from a thumping DJ speaker system. I got no sleep the whole night and it was pure hell. I can't believe no law exists banning this kind of noise pollution.
They knew of this party well in advance and yet still just expected us to suck it up. No, sorry, what about those with kids and couples having to endure that? I had no sleep to prepare for an 8 hour drive. It single handedly ruined my Essen trip as it had to end on this sore note. You don't let out rooms during these events or you tell guests in advance it's common courtesy!!
Poor disregard for local area and guests all to make a quick buck. Next year for Essen Spiel I'm self catering and recommending you avoid this hotel.
