From the listing, we expected this home to be 8 mins walk to the ocean. The reality is that it’s a 30-45 min drive depending on the route you take. We arrived late at night. Finding the house was almost impossible in the dark. Thank God we had a 4x4 SUV. We were shocked to learn that we would have to drive several kms off road through a maze of very steep and unmaintained cart paths to find this house with branches scraping the sides of our vehicle. This should have been disclosed in the listing. The location and house itself was beautiful. However our next surprise is that it was a shared house. We didn’t not expect this. It was very awkward to be at this very remote location now sharing a house with another family. Furthermore, several of the amenities were not accessible to us such as the laundry, fitness center, and using the pool would have ment bothering the other guests. Also, the bed situation was not as listed. This caused unnecessary fights and problems with the sleeping arrangements for my kids. The host was friendly and worked hard to smooth things over. We were grateful for that. In the end, the house worked for us and it was a very nice and scenic rural site. If the description, location, shared house, sleeping arrangements and the adventure of finding the place was accurately described then this would have changed everything for our experience. But this setup was not what we desired on this trip and it felt like a bait and switch and gave a bad impression.
