I would like to share some feedback regarding my recent stay. While the facility itself was pleasant and the outdoor areas, particularly the pool and beach, were beautiful, there were several issues that impacted our experience. First, the TV in my room was not working. I reported this issue several times, but unfortunately, it was never addressed. The rooms themselves also felt outdated and in need of upgrades. At the buffet restaurant, my family and I were told we could not eat there and were directed to another one. This was especially inconvenient as we had an excursion scheduled and needed to eat beforehand. Being asked to leave felt discourteous, and it left us with a negative impression. Furthermore, even when seated at the restaurant, it took a long time to receive basic items such as drinks and napkins. In addition, the alcoholic drinks served at the resort were watered down, and despite asking for better-quality tequila, it was never provided. Overall, while the outdoor facilities were beautiful, I feel the service, attentiveness, room quality, and drink offerings need improvement to match the standard one expects at your property.

I liked that the property was very large but I didn't like the condition of the room. We had an outlet that was missing a cover, we requested a king bed which ended up being two queen beds pushed together. We slept separately our entire trip which isn't what you want for a romantic getaway. The view was horrible. Couldn't see anything but trees and no other form of landscape. The pools were not always the cleanest and the beach was really hard to find and very far. The directional signage is not the greatest on the property. The dining options were good but the food portions were tiny. I didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth although it was all inclusive. I have been to other Riu properties and this was not one of the better ones.

Let me start by saying the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The hotel is secluded which is nice for a relaxing vacation. Unfortunately there is a lot of construction on the premises making it very difficult to relax. Upon arrival the rooms we were assigned smelled like mold and sewage. When asked to be moved they didn’t have any availability until noon the next day so we had an excursion planned for the next day and had to reschedule it to a later time to deal with our accommodations issue. The room made us feel sick so it wasn’t an option to stay. We were also awakened at 6:30am to the gardening crew cutting down a tree outside of our room which was on the ground floor. After changing rooms. The new rooms were better but u can still smell mold and sewage in them. We turned the AC up hi and that helped a lot. One of the rooms had a broken lock and we couldn’t get in so maintenance had to come change the lock. So we pretty much wasted a day of vacation. The food was just ok and lacked flavor. The steakhouse started off good but it’s at least a 10 minute walk from the hotel itself. While having dinner we had raccoons come into the dining area twice and roaches on one of our table. Which the staff said was from the table being in storage. A family member also saw roaches in the shower and she had to change her room. The beach isn’t private so u get approached by locals selling everything before you can get to the actual beach. But they are very nice and friendly.

At the registration desk the agent said there are 5 restaurants to dine in addition to the buffets. Only one evening I was able to have a sit down dinner. Other three nights, buffet was the only available option Overall satisfactory stay

It’s my eighth time here and they never disappoint Food is excellent. Racael is amazing in the dining room, need to give her a raise, and Max as always is very entertaining and friendly along with the rest of the staff.

Review of RIU Palace Costa Rica ⭐⭐☆☆☆ I stayed at the RIU Palace Costa Rica and honestly left disappointed. A few things really need to be called out: • Food & Water Issues: I got sick during my stay, which I believe was from the food and/or water. Definitely not what you want to deal with while on vacation. • False Advertising: The resort promoted a 24/7 sports bar/club and a casino, but both were under construction with no alternative nightlife or entertainment offered in exchange. This felt misleading since these amenities were a big reason I booked. • Condition of the Resort: The back area by the pool was in rough shape—sections looked like rubble, giving parts of the property an unfinished and neglected feel. • Positive Note: The one highlight was the staff. They were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and did their best despite the shortcomings of the resort itself. Overall, while the people were great, the experience didn’t match what was advertised. Between getting sick, amenities being unavailable, and parts of the resort looking rundown, I can’t recommend this property in its current state.

At first I was skeptical because you always hear mixed reviews about a RIU hotel, but turns out this hotel was great. Wonderful staff especially a big shout out to Denzel who was truly an amazing bartender, we went to him every night for our drinks when at the shows, he was very attentive & knew our order every time. Also had a favorite bartender by the pool Nathan who was great. The water park was a plus such a great time. I would definitely want to return when the sister hotel is back open as I heard there is even more to do when both are available.

It’s an ok Hotel, the room service and restaurants need a lot of work. They said no reservations but every night every restaurant was reserved early if you didn’t arrive by a certain time, so if you had excursions that would basically exclude you out of eating anywhere but the Buffet. The food needs a lot of work and the restaurant situation as well, overall it’s an alright resort for the price, RIU being such a big name can definetky do better.
