Edisto Beach Bungalow is a private, elevated 3 bedroom, 2 bath cottage on Myrtle Street, tucked beneath a canopy of historic live oaks that set the tone for the whole block. You're one block from the Atlantic, a three minute walk from Beach Access 32, and close enough to Whaley's to hear the live music. This is one of the last unspoiled barrier islands on the East Coast. No high rises, no chain restaurants, no crowds. Just wide, uncrowded shoreline, dolphins working the shallows at low tide, and a pace that reminds you what a beach vacation is supposed to feel like.
This pet-friendly Edisto Beach rental is set up for real stays, not just nice photos. Beach gear is on site, there's private boat trailer parking, and the downstairs lounge is the kind of spot guests don't want to leave. Book a weekend, a midweek escape, or a full week. Flexible short stays are available year round for families, couples, anglers, and groups traveling with dogs.
Two queen bedrooms, bright and comfortable, anchor the main floor. A kids bunk room with twin over twin plus a trundle gives younger guests their own space. There are two full bathrooms, one with a walk in shower and one with a tub and shower combo, plus an outdoor rinse station with hot and cold water for sandy feet before anyone comes inside. The cottage sleeps up to 8.
Most of the vacation happens on the ground level. The downstairs lounge is shaded by century old live oaks and strung with lights, and it runs the full footprint of the cottage. You'll find bar seating, a double porch swing, hammocks strung between the trees, and cornhole, bocce, and oversized Jenga. On a good night, nobody makes it upstairs until well after dark. Above the lounge, two decks give you both ends of the day, one for morning coffee and one for whatever you're pouring when the sky turns pink over the palmettos. For cooking, there's a Weber charcoal grill for cookouts and a propane burner with a large stock pot for a proper Lowcountry shrimp or crab boil under the oaks.
We leave a starter supply of the basics when you arrive: coffee, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, trash bags, and a few laundry pods, enough to get you through the first evening and morning without a store run. After that it's yours to restock as you go. Most guests pick up groceries and any extras on the way in, since the nearest full store is a short drive off the island.
Pack light for the beach. Everything you need is already here: a Cool Cabana shade tent, beach chairs and umbrellas, a wagon for the walk to Access 32, fishing rods, beach towels, and riding toys for younger guests.
On site boat trailer parking puts you minutes from Edisto Marina and the tidal creeks of the ACE Basin. Redfish and trout at first light, and the kind of inshore fishing that makes people rearrange their whole trip. If you're bringing a boat, this is the property built for it.
Beach Access 32 is a 3 minute walk, and so is Whaley's Restaurant & Bar. Bay Creek Park and Edisto Marina are a 5 minute walk. Marsh Point Pool at the Wyndham Ocean Ridge Resort is a short walk from the front door, and downtown Charleston is a 45 minute drive.
Edisto Beach isn't for everyone. There's no boardwalk, no arcade, no chain anything. What it does have is wide, empty beach, some of the darkest night skies on the South Carolina coast, a community of regulars who've been coming back for decades, and a stillness that's hard to find anywhere else on the Eastern Seaboard. Guests who find Edisto tend to come back.
