Great hotel. Pricy but the rooms were spacious and very nice. Lots of construction going on in the area but in an old town that obviously happens. We did not hear anything construction noise from our room.

Great Location

The room was very nice. Breakfast was Ok. Lots of construction in and around the hotel. The best thing the hotel offers is its location which is wonderful. You can walk to train station. Maybe 30 meters.

The room was beautiful until you looked closer. It was absolutely filthy. I walked in the front door of the hotel and the door opposite had beautiful moulding. Unfortunately it was so covered with dust the top was an entirely different colour. When we got to our room it was the same. I picked up the throw blanket at the foot of our bed to find a long black hair and lots of questionable bits on our lovely white duvet. The carpet was the worst. I couldn’t walk on it without slippers or shoes. Disgusting.

We loved everything about this hotel. Our only negative feedback is there were no hair dryers in the rooms and the restaurant on floor 3 was slow and rude service. We waited 40 minutes just to be greeted for our drinks.

It was awful. There was a wedding on one of the nights I stayed and the music was so loud in my room I could clearly hear the lyrics. It went on until 2 am. When I complained they told me they would comp my breakfasts, but they still charged me for them. Never again.

The property is situated in a great area, accessible to all the sites and shopping. Our rooms’ bathroom glass door was improperly installed so it was crooked and could gave shattered because it was banging into the other glass door. The drywall in the bathroom seemed cracked as well. There are no extra toiletries such as qtips/dental kit/comb etc but the shampoo/conditioner are good. The gym is beautiful and this hotel is extremely convenient to the train station.

Room and staff were very good. The only negative feedback I could say about the hotel was the outside stairway that is adjacent to your hotel. The Scotsman Hotel should really clean and hose it down each day as it is presentation of the hotel as well (even if it is not the hotel property). You should sweep and hose it down daily as it smells of urine and is very dirty. It would be nice to be able to walk up to the reception door from Market St and not worry about if you are going to run into a homeless person sleeping on the stairs.

The location of the Scotsman Hotel was great, however our room and the property was not ideal. Stains on the carpet, toilet did not work in its entirety, bathroom door was awkward. The room was very noisy as well, we had a higher expectation based on other reviews. We would not stay here again nor would we recommend.
