Expected better

As we arrived early, our case was kept safe until our room was ready, and we went out for the afternoon. Checking in to the hotel later, we entered our room to find the netting had dirty marks on them and there was a dirty mark on the pillow case. The pillowcase was changed but there were no replacement nets. A different room was offered, but we were tired by this point so declined. There was a fridge in the room which was handy, and the bed was fairly comfortable. The TV had freeview channels, but disappointingly wasn't a smart TV so we weren't able to watch a film after a busy day - I would have expected a modern smart TV for the price. On the last night, and the following morning, the air-conditioning was not working, which was disappointing as when I rang reception, I was told it would be dealt with but it wasn't. The breakfast was satisfactory with some lovely pastries. I would have expected a better experience for the price, so I won't visit again.

There was some mold on the grout in the bathroom. And a stain on the carpet next to the bed. Those were the only downsides to our experience at this hotel. The staff was truly a pleasure and attentive. The breakfast options were nice. I only wish the fruit would change every couple of days. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Location is good for local transportation system. Room as standard and clean, good teas selection and coffee pods available. Cooked breakfast choices is poor, continental breakfast was ok. Staffs at Bar/ restaurant seems don’t know how to settle the bills when we put money in advance for our room

Convenient location near the train station and walkable into the centre of town. Room was lovely, comfortable beds and couldn't hear other guests. Breakfast had great options and the whole place was very clean, with super friendly staff. Only disappointments were the bar was poorly stocked and didn't have a number of things that were on the drinks list. Parking is also £10 a night.

This hotel saved us from a vacation nightmare!

This hotel was a life saver for my two cousins and I. We had a VRBO booked near the Royal Mile listed as "Spacious Central Apartment Next to Royal Mile" and when we entered it was very dirty and there was second bedroom filled to the brim with clutter and an open window in the back that we could not get to to close. Needless to say, we were in a bind after a long day of traveling and THANKFULLY this hotel had room for us. After a day of feeling unsafe and vulnerable, we felt so safe, calm and comfortable at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. The hotel was also close to some restaurants and coffee shops, and very close to the train station. Getting to the Royal Mile and Grassmarket area was a bit further but we walked there nearly every day of our stay. Could not say enough good things about this place.

Looks a bit rundown, needs painting and could be a wee bit cleaner. Scuff marks throughout the hotel and in room. We went out for the day and only got replaced towels and they flattened out the bead spread. Nothing was cleaned, our pillows were just as we left them and bathroom had hair all over the floor. I mentioned it at the front desk and was informed we HAD TO PUT OUT THE MAKE UP ROOM SIGN. That is different from the US. My husband has been to other Leonardo hotels and raved about them, he was disappointed in this one.

Bad housekeeping

The location was nice. The housekeeping was terrible. They did not clean the rooms properly. Even after bringing it to the attention of the staff, nothing was done. On the last day, the manager came and apologized and teld me there will be a follow-up email sent to me, which was never done nor was i offered any compensation.

Stayed here twice in a one week period around a tour to highlands. Second stay did not include robes and slippers, which we enjoyed the first stay. Second room also did not have a working fan in the bathroom and not surprisingly there was black mould in the shower. Nice place but expect details like this to be take care for the price point.

Nice hotel but cleanliness was an issue. Found a dirty bandaid in the “clean” sheets and a blood stain on a pillow. Check-in was also a bit of an issue w no early check-ins allowed. The result - a long line of people waiting to check-in right at 3 pm.

The staff was kind and helpful. The price was extremely high for value it is not worth what they charged. The price was during Fringe so they took advantage of that. they also charge an additional 6 pounds for the tray to bring room service up to you. They are very gougie with the price I would not stay with them again due tho that! The staff are great very helpful and nice !

Stayed last year and liked it, so we chose it again this year. Breakfast is great and was included in our rate. Convenient for travel to/from the train station, airport or Old town. Our experience was better last year. This year, had some issues with the sofa bed, which was not comfortable at all. Gave feedback to the Deputy General Manager, who promised to investigate. Kris on the Reception desk was very helpful.
