Beautiful old hotel, nice large room. They were nice to move our room on check in when we needed an elevator vs stairs to our room. Front desk staff were very helpful.

1898 Deluxe

The General Palmer is right next door to the Durango Silverton Railroad so it is perfect for anyone planning to ride the train early in the morning. It is also a good way to immerse yourself in the past before getting on an old railroad. The beds and linens are very comfortable and the hot water for my shower was instant and plentiful. There is no desk in the room where you could plug in your laptop and work though there is a flat screen tv, marble countertop at the sink and the clothes closet smelled of cedar wood. It is old style elegance. The elevator is tiny and has a retractable cage. It was the first elevator in Colorado. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Chandler.

Location is perfect! Easy parking. Nice view from the patio. Staff was friendly and helpful. Free breakfast was nice, not amazing. The coffee is a little weak, but otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
