The Space:

The Little Refuge by Tiny Away, nestled in the tiny village of Dunoon, 40 minutes away from Byron Bay and only 20 minutes from Lismore, invites you to unwind and reconnect with nature.



The land rises and dips to form a natural amphitheater filled with open spaces and dense greenery. From the higher ground, treetop views stretch out, while the lower area stays cool and damp with thriving ferns and moss. Birdsong fills the air, and early mornings bring glimpses of wallabies and even koalas in nearby gums.



Hidden from sight and sound, the home offers total seclusion and quiet. A private fire pit sits on level ground for peaceful evenings under the stars. A small chicken coop nearby adds charm, offering fresh eggs and the soft, steady presence of chooks throughout the day.



A cozy 139-square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, a hand basin, and a gas-heated shower for hot showers.



Guest Access:

Guests have access to our cozy tiny home and the outdoor area immediately surrounding it. You're also welcome to walk down to Little Rocky Creek, which is about 1.5km away and involves a bit of a trek.



A basic map and some signage will be provided to guide you, but please note that access is at your own risk. If you plan to make the walk, please sign an indemnity form with the host before setting out.



The Neighborhood:

The Little Refuge by Tiny Away can be found in a pocket of the Northern Rivers by Dunoon, a small village 20 minutes from Lismore and 40 minutes from Byron Bay. Working farms, rainforest trails, and strong community ties surround this cozy, tiny house.



At the heart of town, the Dunoon Sports Club offers a relaxed spot for meals, events, and gatherings. Just a short drive away, you can explore the Whian Whian State Conservation Area, home to Rocky Creek Dam and Whian Whian Falls. These spots offer peaceful walking tracks, clear swimming holes, and lush rainforest views that showcase the region’s natural beauty.



For those seeking a bigger adventure, Minyon Falls lies 21 km away and plunges over 100 meters into the valley below. It connects to the extensive trail network of Nightcap National Park, making it a perfect day trip for hikers and nature lovers.



Groceries and essentials are covered at the Dunoon General Store, known for Byron Gourmet Pies and takeaway snacks. For more options, Lismore has all the major supermarkets and hosts Heritage Park, complete with a water play area and miniature train. Local dining includes The Channon Tavern near Terania Creek and Annie’s Country Bakery in Modanville, both within easy reach.

Other Things to Note:

- A gas BBQ grill is available

- The property is suitable for kids

- Smoking outside the tiny house is allowed

- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed

- Please note that more extended stays or late check-outs will incur an extra charge

- Telstra has good mobile reception in the area; other providers may have weak or limited coverage

- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge

- Check-in is after 2:00pm and check out is by 10:00am. Early checkin and late checkout can be requested however is not guaranteed and may attract an additional fee





Important note:



- The pump is equipped with a filter, and there’s also an inline filter installed. Bottled water can be provided upon request for an additional charge

- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain our cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding

- Exploring Little Rocky Creek is at your own risk. Bass fishing is catch-and-release only. Hunting is not allowed. Some firewood will be provided, and additional firewood is available for purchase if needed
