Overnight stop off on way to Cornwall after a days fishing, ideal.
Owner and his son were really helpful. We arrived late and left early, but will come back for a more leisurely stay as it was so welcoming and our room was lovely.
Lovely, cosy hotel. Owners and staff super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and catered for vegetarian options. Our room was so comfortable and warm.
Situated in a hushed, picturesque village, the hotel provided a fantastic base to explore Exmoor
Characterful inn, friendly welcome and service, pretty village with good walking.

Room was small but adequate for one night - unfortunately no hot water and dated system evidently being replaced but meant no shower.

Lovely and clean and friendly staff. Decor could do with an update and the bed was a bit hit and miss but understandable in these older world properties. Breakfast was very nice too

Staff were really great. I stayed here for business so I needed to do more work in my room, the staff were happy for me to take my dinner up into my room and the rump steak that I had was incredibly good. I was also up and out in the morning too early for breakfast so the staff made me a packed lunch which was really nice of them.
We've been before and came back again for the fabulous breakfast and warm welcome! A wonderful family-run establishment. Looking forward to returning again soon.
Clean but dated room. Quiet location and free street parking. Dulverton has some lovely shops and places to eat. Ate in hotel at night on excellent fixed price menu. Breakfast was freshly cooked as well. Hood beers at bar although wine a tad expensive. Family run hotel and a warm welcome and attentive service. Friendly place to stay with a comfy bed.
Decent accommodation in a beautiful village on Exmoor. The bed was comfortable and the full English breakfast very good as well. I had no problem parking just outside on the street. I liked the feeling of staying in a family-run hotel and they were all friendly and helpful. Would return!
Lovely old building in centre of village. Big and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Very good value.

The staff were lovely and really helpful. The bedroom and other facilities were a little dated and need a bit of a revamp but it was clean.

Weekend treat
This is an old building and part of the charm of the village. A lovely breakfast and welcome. The room was spacious and warm. The hotel does need refurbishment and some decoration but it is central and close to the shops and restaurants
Absolutely lovely staff. Made to feel very welcome. Very helpful and friendly. Very comfortable bed. Fabulous breakfast. Very good location. Very poor wifi in room. The decor in the room could do with a freshen up but it had everything I needed and the water was nice and hot for a bath.
Friendly enough, pleasant staff. But this place is in desperate need of some renovations and a deep clean (downstairs especially) and new carpets (?) to remove the funky smell, which was not good. But lots of potential!
Firstly, the food was excellent. Breakfast was lovely and the supper we had on one night was superb. However, check in was rather odd - the hotel was closed (at 5pm) so we rang the number on the door. We were greeted with….’We’re not open to the public but I’ll check you in’ - not quite a welcoming experience! We were shown to the room and then there was a comment of ‘there’s sometimes a problem with the hot water up here…but you should be ok’ - what a bizarre thing to say to new guests!
The room was dusty and smelled musty. The carpet was badly stained. The canopy over the 4 posted bed was filthy and you can see clumps of dust held in it! The wardrobe was held shut by a chair in front of it and the bathroom door handle didn’t work well. The bed was comfortable though and bedding clean.
The hotel spent more time with a closed sign on the door than open. This hotel is more like a B&B. The bar was open for short periods sometimes but the communal areas weren’t welcoming and there was no atmosphere at all. Everything needs an uplift.
Overall the stay was functional as this is the only place to stay in Dulverton but it really needs some maintenance and atmosphere. It felt real shame as the building and business has so much potential.
