Overall we enjoyed our stay at Portmarnock Resort. The staff was friendly and professional, particularly Brian. We had a golf course view from our room, which was great! Dinner in the bar and the breakfast buffet were both very good. Maps gave us incorrect directions so we were delayed in arriving. Luckily a man at a convenience store helped us out.

Excellent customer service. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the bar and restaurant. The inclusive breakfast was large with many options. The view and grounds were pretty, but could not be outside because of the weather.

I think we got the last available room and it wasn’t anything special. This is a hotel for golfers. It has a beautiful golf course with amazing views of the sea. The property itself is really right on the beach. So if you golf and you love the beach, this place is for you. However, if you want a nice fluffy robe and a quiet place to relax or a hot meal with great service, maybe this place isn’t for you. Our room was nice enough, just basic. The first thing you see when you look out the window is a green moldy rail that looks like it has never been cleaned. I was surprised that a “resort” had so few amenities in the room. Also, there was a sign at the entrance to one of the dining rooms that told guests that if they didn’t want to be disappointed, they shouldn’t come to eat when the restaurant is busy. We took our chances and reserved a table for dinner at the other restaurant. The food was good, but the service was lacking. No greeting by the server and our second course took over 45 minutes. The WiFi was spotty and there was so much noise (weird, booming inexplicable thuds) all night long that we hardly slept. I wouldn’t stay here again.
