Just across the street from Douglas Beach, The DougOut puts Lake Michigan steps from your door and downtown Douglas a short walk away. The open main level was made for hosting, with a chef’s kitchen, a cozy fireplace, and a game room with pool and ping pong. Upstairs, the primary suite has a rain shower, a soaking tub, and a balcony for your morning coffee. Out back, roast s’mores by the fire pit. Grab the Yeti and some chairs and hit the beach! This one books up months ahead, grab your dates!

The DougOut is located in the picturesque town of Douglas, which is made up of two parts: the lively downtown and the peaceful lakeshore. The DougOut sits in the lakeside neighborhood, a quiet stretch of lake houses just across the street from Douglas Beach. Take an evening stroll along Lakeshore Drive, which hugs the shoreline with beautiful homes on one side and Lake Michigan on the other. When you’re ready for more action, downtown is just a short walk away.

Sister town to Saugatuck, Douglas is a laid-back yet sophisticated travel destination, known for its celebrated art galleries. It’s quiet enough to sit outside and hear nothing but the breeze and the birds chirping, yet vibrant enough to offer food, drinks, and entertainment that would suit a city many times its size. Locally owned businesses line the streets of downtown, and if you manage to exhaust Downtown Douglas, Downtown Saugatuck is less than five minutes away by car or easily reached on foot or by bike.

After you’ve sampled the local food and drinks—many grown right here in this top-producing agricultural region—and shopped our many independent boutiques, head out into Pure Michigan natural beauty at our gorgeous beaches, trails, and state parks. Nearby Oval Beach was ranked by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the top 25 shorelines on the entire planet! Rent a watercraft or take a dip in sparkling Lake Michigan, then climb our towering sand dunes to shady wooded trails.

This is Pure Michigan living at its finest! Sitting just 100 feet from the beach and minutes from Downtown Saugatuck & Douglas, the location is hard to beat. Sleep up to 10 of your favorites in this airy, spacious home packed with thoughtful touches. The main level is set up for entertaining, with multiple comfy seating areas and a large dining table with wrap-around seating that opens into the chef’s kitchen, complete with island seating and a beautiful fireplace. Just off this space, the rec room features a pool table/ping pong table, making it easy to bop from one room to the next or giving the kids their own hangout. Have a glass of wine by the fireplace, charcuterie in the kitchen, board games in the sitting room — the whole group can enjoy this level together. Spread out even further into the peaceful backyard with stately shade trees and a partial view of our beautiful Lake Michigan! Hear the waves crash along the shoreline and enjoy a crisp evening breeze while you dine al fresco on the back patio or gather around the fire pit.

The upper level boasts an inviting king bedroom with an open-concept en suite bath featuring Malin & Goetz products, a rain shower and free-standing tub. Pour yourself a cup of our special Art Coast Properties Coffee Blend from Uncommon Roasters and take a seat on the balcony off the primary suite to soak up the sun before making the short walk to the beach! A second spacious king bedroom sits on this floor, along with 2 cozy rooms and a twin over twin day bed in the common space. An expansive bonus room with a large sectional and TV is also on this level, so your group can split up into their own spaces when needed.

The DougOut is mere steps from Downtown Douglas and a short drive from Saugatuck, Fennville, many beaches, and various wineries/breweries. Don't feel like driving? No problem there! The Saugatuck Township Interurban Transit Authority offers pick-ups and drop-offs for only $1 each way to anywhere in Saugatuck Township. Simply call in the moment or ahead and reserve a time and pick-up/drop-off location and your chariot awaits!

Want to venture out into the rest of Michigan's Art Coast? Downtown South Haven and Holland are only a 20-minute drive away and offer a whole different vibe filled with other activities to explore!

Our Pet Fee is $145 and will include a Pet Basket for you to use during your stay: Food and Water Bowls, Waste Bags, Lavender Pet Shampoo, Pet Stain Remover, Puppy Towel, and a little Treat :) Woof Woof!
