## Emplacement
Located at the gates of the Pays d'Auge, between Cabourg and Deauville, Dives-sur-Mer is a charming port city of about 6,000 inhabitants. Its history is linked to the epic of William the Conqueror, who gathered his fleet there before setting off for the conquest of England in 1066. The historic centre of Dives-sur-Mer is a jewel of medieval architecture, a legacy of its millennial past: the 15th century halls, the Bois-Hibout manor of the 17th century, the Notre-Dame church and its Romanesque part of the 11th century, the Guillaume-le-Conquerant Art Village of the late 15th century...
At the beginning of the industrial era, the proximity of the sea favoured the establishment of a major metallurgical plant, which would be the economic engine of the city for more than a century. After its closure in 1986, the city once again turned to the sea, with the construction of the Port-Guillaume complex. Port-Guillaume is an eminently tourist area with a floating basin with a capacity of 600 places and an anchorage area of 300 rings sheltered by a dune cordon. 1200 dwellings are distributed between holiday homes and small houses nicely arranged in a protected natural area. There are also shops and restaurants, the municipal media library and a sailing school.
