St. Lucia has two airports, one of which receives flights to St Lucia. The Hewanorra International Airport is located near Vieux Fort Quarter 40 miles south of Castries and the George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU), which is situated along the coastline on the outskirts of Castries. Several airlines have St Lucia flights from all over the world making travel to this lovely Island easy. For visitors coming from the United States, American Airlines flies daily from Miami. Taxis and car rentals are available from the airport to the city and the north of the island, and cheap public transport is also available. The trip by public transport will take twice as long, and passengers must walk their luggage to the main road.
