The room we first put into the bed had yellow stains on it. They upgraded our room which had no AC and they were roaches when we came back in from our date night out on the bed. It was 4 of them in the covers
Not a place you want to stay. Might be more of an hourly stop. Perhaps long term housing. Lots of personal stuff piled up outside. a couple grills and sets of patio furniture. Pretty basic set up, I would have been just fine, until the cockroach climbed up my leg. Upon further look, I found 4 roach traps, and they all had at least 4 cockroaches in them.
I checked reviews before I booked the motel for two night's lodging. Based on reviews, I thought how bad could it be. I took two box fans with me since indications were that the room might be hot in July. Long story short, I could not stand to be in the room let alone stay there for two nights. I should have looked at the room before I paid for it and I'd suggest nobody pay before they inspect. I wouldn't have stayed there if they'd have paid me to do it.
I made a list of the environmental and facility health, life safety and security deficiencies and took pictures to support those findings.
Place didn't have an air conditioner, a microwave, and a coffee machine. The refrigerator was bearly working. The bed covers were dirty and there was a dead spider on the wall. The registration was claustrophobic and dark.

exactly as described. Nice wildlife !
great deal, great location.
You get what you pay for. Smells of smoke and mildew. Roach trap in the bathroom. Be careful using the deadbolt; it might take some time and brute force to leave the room.
Completely run down place. No soap. Fraction of a roll of toilet paper with no spare. Roach trap under the sink. No knob on the shower faucet. Didn’t smell good.
Room smelled like Mold the moment you walk in, roach traps full of roaches all over the place. Shower handle broken, stains in the pillows and sheets. I complained to the manager and received a full refund.
Everything that can go wrong went wrong. The room was supposed to be non-smoking but full of smoke and nicotine stains. The entire bed and pillows were covered with disgusting stains and all sorts of bugs were crawling. The owner/front-desk staff just shrugged it. I checked out immediately and they denied any refunds.
It was an extremely small room
* advertisement says it had air conditioning. It had one vent in the general quarters that did not cool the room so the stay was hot to the point we were sweating ( if you wanted to feel the cold air you had to sit literally right next to it)
*Fridge did not work right wasn’t cold at all
first thing I did when I walked in, was check for bedbugs
(I did not find any)
We sit down and started watching TV and little things started to pop out at me
* the skirting of the bed was stained and look like to be burned with cigarettes
(this was supposed to be a non-smoking room)
* there was some sort of liquid that a drip down the wall and it had started yellowing, which usually happens with bodily fluid (Screams hasn’t been cleaned in a while)
* when the light reflected right, you can see hand prints all over the wall, which means that was some sort of residue over the wall for you to be able to see where somebody and put their hands
* Cobwebs were all around the room
* furniture was beat the hell, and or broken
There are too many issues to list in this review
My son was graduating from Iowa State and I booked a room for one night in AMes long before the graduation. Plans changed and I needed to stay a couple more nights. By the time I looked for rooms in AMes for the weekend, everything started at $500 a night. I expaned my search down to Des Moines. I was looking for something cheap. I figured all I needed was a bed and a shower. I found this Palace Inn for $70 a night and thought what the heck. I booked two nights. When I got there the road in front of the place was closed and there was routed over the the other side of the road. There was a gravel path open to get to the property. No big deal. The place looked run down. When I got out of the care and walked up to the entrance, it reeked of cigarette smoke before you even got inside. I went into the "lobby". It was the room the size of a closet. There was a small plexiglass window over a little counter with a hole in the bottom of the window. I couldn't see anyone behind the glass. I heard a voice say " can I help you?" I said "I have a reservation". What's the name?" I told him my name. I didn't hear anything for a while. I said "don't you have the reservation?" "Oh I got you". " ID and credit card". I slipped my license and credit card through the hole in the window. I got the key. "Number 7. Pull around behind the snow plow." The room also reeked of smoke. Beds were fine. Shower was hot. Wi Fi worked. It was quiet. Not the cleanest. For $70 it was OK.
