The hotel is close to a state park with RV & camping, fishing and boating. It is clean, the staff is helpful & friendly. Our King bed room was comfortable with a small refrigerator and microwave. Very nice place to stay.!

It worked for our one-night stay in town. The public spaces were very warm and muggy when we arrived, and the rooms didn't have the AC turned on, so it took a few hours for the rooms to cool down. The beds were clean and the bathrooms were dated but decently clean, however the rest of the rooms weren't cleaned very thoroughly, and the old carpet highlighted this. It has little lodging competition in the town, but I would have appreciated a higher level of maintenance. Staff was mostly 1 person, but he was kind. The kids enjoyed the pool.

Easy check-in. Room was clean, comfortable and beds comfortable. It was so quiet— we slept through breakfast!! Older hotel— but well maintained. We have been on the road for 10 days— all at name brand hotels— this hotel doesn’t offer warm cookies and a fireplace in the lobby— but also it is only half the price!! Nothing fancy— but clean with nice staff!

The room was clean, but the public areas (stairs, breakfast areas) needed vacuuming etc. The hotel seemed quite run down, all the furniture was very dated, stained etc. Breakfast was poorly stocked, low quality and the coffee machine didn't work.

While the staff attempted to be friendly, there was a lot of instances where keys just stopped working, loud maintenance work, and the rooms were just so-so. It may be better to just stay in Brookings, SD and drive to De Smet vs staying here.
