Lovely Place

For hikers/skiiers, this is a great place. Close to all the hiking trails and ski runs. Davis is a short drive for a good grocery store. The house itself is tranquil and tucked back in the valley. Clean and plenty of room for a family. Beds were comfortable and well appointed. Perfect choice!

Birthday Ski trip

The house is set in a wonderful quiet neighborhood. It is close to Timberline ski without being right on the slopes. This was much preferred for privacy and beauty. We had a lovely time.

Excellent Location & House

This was a spectacular property! We spent Labor day weekend here. The kitchen was well stocked, had all utensils and it was very clean. Hot tub was very clean and amazing, kids enjoyed the hot tub and also they were able to ride their bikes around the neighborhood. It was quiet and out of the way. It was 12 minutes from Blackwater falls and easy to go around. Very scenic and relaxing place. The place was very well kept. The porch swing was amazing to just sit and relax. We all loved the house very much <3

Family Holiday Weekend

This was a spectacular property! We spent Thanksgiving weekend here. The kitchen was well stocked, enough to cook a full Thanksgiving dinner! The kids were able to ride their bikes around the neighborhood. It was quiet and out of the way. Short drive to Thomas and/or Davis. Greatly enjoyed our time at Blackwater Falls. The place was very well clean and well kept. Even had a maintenance man come for a minor repair on Thanksgiving day.

Wonderful Stay!

From the moment we checked in to the time we checked out, everything was perfect! We have been coming to Canaan for years at various homes and this is one of the most well equipped, clean homes and we couldn't be happier. We lacked nothing including crockpots, griddles and so many pans! We did buy an ice cream scoop and left it. Bonus.... Our hosts even left bandaids, Tylenol, wet wipes, toothbrushes and many more extras if we needed them. It was quiet and peaceful allowing us to enjoy the valley. We will look into this place next year (unless we bring our entire family!) Thank you and I hope others enjoy it as we did!

It was so clean and the beds were very comfortable. There were plenty of games for our granddaughter to enjoy. The kitchen was well stocked, everything you’d need. Hot tub was amazing and we also enjoyed making s’mores by the fire pit. Even though it’s near an airstrip it was so peaceful and quiet the entire week. We loved the location. Already looking forward to returning next October!

It didn't have a 3rd level (basement) with rec room like other houses, which wasn't a problem for 2 families (though more than that, I think we'd want it). The flat terrain and ample snow was great for kids play, and the interior was well appointed (though better cookware would have been a nice upgrade). We didn't get to try the hottub. Our only real complaint was the abundance of cool white light bulbs throughout which should absolutely be changed out for warm white. The chair legs seem like they were about ready to break off--and I'm glad they didn't on our visit! Otherwise great place!!

We enjoyed the house, very comfortable beds, couches not so much and TV channel offerings were terrible, frustrating even. I was confused by the coffee pot situation and having to drive your trash to a dumpster was not ok. The porch was enjoyable as well the hot tub, but there was just not enough in the area for us to come back to, in the summer anyway.

Talboys is a perfect family retreat!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house sits on a large piece of land surrounded by fields and mountains. It is very well equipped inside and had more than enough room for our group of 6. The loft space above the living room adjacent to the spectacular master bedroom could easily accommodate another 2-4 people. The kitchen is conveniently labeled so you don't have to open every drawer in search of a spatula. The hot tub was a big hit and once we turned off the porch lights we could gaze up at the millions of stars overhead with almost no distraction. The kids were not bored as the house was well stocked with all sorts of games. We also appreciated the generous supply of towels so we didn't have to do a load of laundry every time we used the tub. The location of the house is ideal as it is a stone's throw from Whitegrass where we went cross country skiing. It is also adjacent to Canaan Valley state park where there are other ski options as well. We visited in the winter, but it must be a wonderful place to go in the summer as well--seeing as it is situated near so many parks. It is also close to Davis and Thomas so you can have a night out without having to drive far. The only thing lacking was a consistent internet connection. It was a little spotty, but we remedied this by turning the router on and off several times during our stay. We would highly recommend the house and the company. Everyone was pleasant and helpful (even though we were calling them on Christmas Day for directions).
