Power out stuffy room

We have stayed here several times. It is a nice hotel and breakfast is good. Issues this time where... 1. The room we stayed in was stuffy.. and damp. We couldnt get the AC to get the damp mildew feel and order out. When you walked into out of the room it was noticeably different. The floor seemed damp.. and felt dirty. The bed was good and the pillows great. 2. The power went out the last night there around 9pm and didnt come back on until after 3 am. Issues where the entry / lobby was very dark and creepy no backup generators or any kind of lighting in the lobby or halls so going in to find rooms we had to use our flashlights on phone. No one even greated us or cautioned us upon our entry. The room was very stuffy because now there was no AC at all. 3. We were glad they still accept our furry baby but bummed they now charge.

Although the room was nice, we were in a King Bed Suite room. The room did not have centrally controlled heat and AC, they only had a portable AC unit that barely kept the room cool and we were on the top floor (3rd floor). there was a closet that the inoperable air handler unit in it and the door to it would not shut properly and allowed the heat from the upper attic area of the building to come into the room, making it more difficult for the portable AC unit to keep up. Our son slept on the pull out couch and the area he was in never got under 85 degrees and our area never got below 80 degrees. Not a comfortable stay because the room on either side never got cool.

Terrible customer service. Power outage occurred the 2nd night of our stay. Luckily, we were not present, at the time the power went out. The employee at the front deck, seemed to be the only person on staff at the time. She looked like she was too busy on her cell phone, to be concerned with updating, checking on, assisting any of guests in the hotel. I had to walk into the pitch black lobby, to find out what was going on. There were no attempts for any temporary lighting, or staff members readily available, to advise their guests. One would assume that a company's employee, would be more proactive in an emergency situation like this. We ended up staying at another hotel that evening. Over the next several days, I attempted to contact the hotel, and management in particular, regarding a possible refund on the 2nd night of our stay. Each time I called the property, I was told that "the manager was not there" and would return my call. Nobody ever returned my calls. I gave up on trying to get this matter resolved. It was not worth my time or effort, that much, to stress over a $95 hotel stay. I have been in sales/ customer service in retail environments, for over 30 years. I have never been ignored like this. I will continue to use Expedia, for my travels in the future. I have always enjoyed their services. However, I will not stay at a Best Western again.
