Black mold and lack of heating
Leading up to the arrival the property owner was very communicative and even helped us arrange transportation to get us to our property. Upon arrival she was waiting for us at the property to give us instructions. We asked how the heating works and she mentioned that the apartment had no heating but that she could provide us ONE portable heater we mentioned to her to just leave it inside as we were heading out to dinner. My daughter stayed back and said no one ever came to bring it. The next day we followed up and the owner stated she left it outside the apartment in the stairwell but never mentioned it to us. The heater she provided was not even large enough to heat a single room much less the entire apartment. The temperatures at night ranged in the 20s so we were all very cold. We had been walked through on how to use the hot water in the showers but the water never even came out hot. At best it was room temperature. 2 of my children chose not to shower during our visit because the water was not hot enough. The listing stated the unit came with basic soaps but there was NO bathroom soap or shampoo and both had to be purchased late at night after we arrived. The owner talks in her listing about water based activities of which we booked one. However, water based activities require an individual to bring towels. When we asked the owner for extra towels we were told that there was only one towel per guest and that the towels could not be removed from the unit. There was a washer and no dryer. I have seen this many times in my travels but normally there is a way to hang up clothing so it dries with the sun. Instead the apartment had a wooden clothes rack inside and the owner stated she could hang up our clothes for us elsewhere. I did not want a stranger handling our clothes so we were unable to wash while there. There was a cabinet broken in the kitchen and only one pan and one pot available…not enough to cook a meal in the apartment. Worst of all though was the black mold. There was black mold in on it the bathrooms and signs of it in one of the bedrooms plus signs that mold had been previously scraped off other areas. The mold was so bad that I woke up full congested both mornings and I never get congested. This apartment should be considered a health hazard. Not even sure how apartments can be rented out like this in any country.
