The Experience:

This isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a place to reconnect. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend, a friends’ getaway, or a solo recharge, this home invites you to slow down, savor the view, and let the charm of wine country work its magic.

In 2014, our family was looking for a new place in the country to call home. Our realtor put a plug in our ear about this beautiful piece of land that was about to go on the market—and it just happened to be a running winery! We decided to come and take a look…and rest is history! We fell in love with the rolling prairie and water around our place; it was (and still is) our rustic oasis! And, of course, grapevines and a functioning winery were icing on the cake! We are never afraid to shy away from a new adventure so we jumped in and Painted Prairie Vineyard has been running since!

Both of us were born and raised in Southwest Minnesota and value of the importance of supporting local business. We have grapevines on site, but we purchase local grapes and apples (within an hour of our place) to make our wines. We also have décor from local businesses and showcase foods from local vendors as well.

When you visit our winery, you’ll get to meet us (Andy and Krista) and our lovely little family of three vivacious girls- Annika, Elysa, and Britta. You may also get to meet our Vineyard dog, Goldie. We are thrilled to show you our little slice of heaven and share our taste of the prairie!

This family-owned vineyard isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a place to pause. Guests are welcomed into a working vineyard where small-batch wines, golden-hour views, and thoughtful hospitality set the tone. Whether you're here for a quiet escape or to connect over a wood-fired pizza night under the stars, Painted Prairie invites you to slow down and savor each moment. The vineyard’s deep roots in the land, commitment to craft, and genuine community spirit make it one of the most special stays.

It is nestled in the heart of Minnesota’s sweeping prairie landscape, just outside the small town of Currie. Surrounded by wide-open skies and rolling fields, this peaceful setting offers a true escape from the rush of everyday life. With panoramic views and vibrant sunsets, the vineyard feels a world away while still being within reach of local parks, lakes, and cultural sites. It’s the perfect base for exploring the beauty of southwest Minnesota—or simply staying put and enjoying the slower pace of vineyard life.
