3 Pros:
✔ One of the few truly dog-friendly studios this close to the lifts — a convenience store across the street
✔ Indoor and outdoor heated pool plus a hot tub for after a day out
✔ The most affordable building at the base of Mt. Crested Butte
2 Cons:
✗ Built in 1999, a 3-star building with dated common areas
✗ No A/C (rarely needed at 9,375 ft), no oven, and no in-unit washer/dryer
Guest Access:
You have the entire studio to yourself, plus full access to the Grand Lodge's shared amenities: the indoor/outdoor heated pool, hot tub, fitness center, and fireplace lobby. Check in yourself anytime with the keypad code — there's no front desk at the Grand Lodge, but we respond quickly by message. Your unit comes with free parking, and the 2nd-floor location makes for easy in-and-out with your dog. Shared amenities are operated by the building's HOA and can occasionally close for maintenance.
The Neighborhood:
The Grand Lodge sits at the base of Mt. Crested Butte, a short walk from the Crested Butte Mountain Resort lifts, with a coffee shop, restaurants, and a convenience store directly across the street. The surrounding base village has shops, dining, and rental outfitters at the doorstep, plus open ground nearby for dog walks. Historic downtown Crested Butte and its Elk Avenue — galleries, restaurants, and preserved Old West architecture — are about a seven-minute drive, with a free town shuttle running between the mountain and town. The area is a year-round outdoor base: skiing and snowshoeing in winter; hiking, mountain biking, rafting, horseback riding, and wildflower season in summer. The Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) is about a 45-minute drive.
Getting Around:
You don't need a car here — the lifts, coffee, restaurants, and a convenience store are all within a short walk. A free town shuttle runs between the mountain base and historic downtown Crested Butte (about 7 minutes). If you do drive, your unit comes with free parking. The Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) is about a 45-minute drive; Denver is roughly 4 hours.
