We stayed in early June for a week. The location is great, very close to the town centre and the walls of the castle only being yards away.
It is uphill from the town centre however, if you walking or breathing difficulties, it could be a problem.
We have only stayed in a cottage once before. Last year in Cornwall, unfortunately it's the only reference point to judge and similar price for the same week last year.
This cottage was not the same quality. Size was similar but quality of fittings and overall detail was disappointing.
The kitchen was good. Looked like it was relatively new. Well-appointed and clean. Unfortunately, the cooker hood was blowing the extracted fumes back into the kitchen area. I'm again assuming, as the extractor had no outside exit, the extractor worked on a filter. I would suggest the filter needs replacing.
The bathroom however (and I appreciate the architecturally limitations of the property) was not good. I would suggest the bathroom requires a total refurb.
It was very tired. The shower head was unable to hold its position and kept slipping, so any output was directed to the rear wall. There was no facility to place shower gel/shampoo, other than the floor. The cubicle is very small and if your over 6ft tall or over this is a major problem.
Our overall view is the cottage needs a bit of TLC. Chipped paint on stairs and other places, spoiled, what could be really nice place. The outside area was good.
