“Now this is the life.”
That thought may cross your mind more than once during a stay at The Cottage at Misti Cove—a cozy waterfront retreat where the river is just steps from your back door and life seems to move at a slower pace.
The cottage sits exceptionally close to the Piankatank River at one of its widest points, offering expansive water views from both inside and outside the home. Watch the sunrise over the river from bed, spend the afternoon paddling or relaxing by the water, and end the day soaking in your private waterfront hot tub as the evening sky lights up.
They simply do not build homes this close to the water anymore. From the rear deck, the river appears almost close enough to cast a fishing line into—and while you may need to walk a little farther to catch dinner, the view really is as close and impressive as it looks in the photographs.
In fact, many guests tell us the photos do not fully capture the experience. The combination of the panoramic water views, the peaceful setting, and the feeling of being surrounded by the river is something that is difficult to convey until you are standing here in person.
After all, when you travel this far to stay on the water, you should not have to compromise on the view.
YOUR OWN WATERFRONT RETREAT
The Cottage at Misti Cove combines the peaceful feeling of a private getaway with amenities normally associated with a much larger resort—without the crowds.
Your private outdoor spaces include:
An extra-large waterfront hot tub
A waterfront deck with a propane grill
A gas fireplace conversation area
A hammock beneath a large shade tree
The “Relaxation Station,” a sandy waterside lounging area with Adirondack chairs and a wood-burning fire pit
Four owner-provided kayaks
Two paddleboards
Four beach chairs and beach towels
Spend the morning exploring the river, stretch out in the hammock during the afternoon, gather around the fire as the temperature cools, or simply sit by the shoreline and watch the world go by. There is no schedule here unless you decide to make one.
SUNRISES, SUNSETS AND WILDLIFE
The cottage offers a front-row seat to the natural beauty of Virginia’s Middle Peninsula. Depending on the season, you may see ospreys, bald eagles, gulls, deer, crabs, stingrays, jumping fish and other wildlife native to the Chesapeake Bay region.
The sunrise over the water is worth waking up for—even if you watch it from bed. In the evening, settle into the hot tub, enjoy the changing colors across the river and let the peaceful surroundings become one of your favorite memories from the trip.
COZY AND COMFORTABLE INSIDE
The cottage is thoughtfully furnished to feel warm, comfortable and welcoming throughout your stay.
The primary bedroom features a queen-size bed with a Novaform gel memory-foam mattress. The second bedroom includes a daybed with a pop-up trundle, creating two separate twin beds, both with memory-foam mattresses.
The enclosed porch features a comfortable futon and can serve as a third sleeping area, giving families and groups additional flexibility when planning their stay.
Bamboo flooring throughout the kitchen, living room and bedrooms adds warmth and a relaxed, coastal feel.
The living room includes a Samsung Smart TV with streaming capabilities and Samsung TV channels. The bedrooms are equipped with Amazon Fire TV devices so guests can sign in to their preferred streaming services. Free Wi-Fi is included.
Two indoor electric fireplaces add an extra touch of coziness during cooler weather.
A BATHROOM WITH A LITTLE LUXURY
Even the bathroom reflects the cottage’s waterside character, with features including:
Wavy marble tile
Beach-inspired glass, mother-of-pearl and resin trim
Tumbled-stone flooring
Heated bathroom floor
Towel warmer
A FULLY EQUIPPED KITCHEN
The kitchen includes everything needed for anything from a quick breakfast to a full family meal:
Refrigerator
Oven and stove
Microwave
Dishwasher
Traditional drip coffee maker
Keurig coffee maker
Toaster
Blender
Crockpot
Garbage disposal
Pots, pans, dishes, glasses, cups and cooking utensils
Cook indoors, grill beside the river, or gather around the table for a relaxed meal after a day on the water.
