Georgian Manor · Sleep 17 · 8 Acres · Pet Friendly
Summary:
Penty Parc by Salt & City is a listed Georgian country house on 8 private acres of lawn, orchard & summer meadow, with a tranquil pond and views to the Preseli Hills. Sleeping 17 in 9 characterful bedrooms, it's built for unforgettable family gatherings, reunions and celebrations - with a music room (two pianos), a private bar, an events room, a four-oven AGA kitchen, log burner snug, firepit & life-size garden games. Dogs welcome. Pembrokeshire's beaches and coastal path are a half-hour drive.
The Space:
Step through sash-windowed reception rooms into the calm grandeur of a thoughtfully restored Georgian home. High panelled walls, sweeping staircases and original fireplaces meet chic contemporary interiors and modern bathrooms, so the house feels both period-true and properly comfortable for a 21st-century group of 17.
Sleeping arrangements (9 bedrooms · 13 beds · sleeps 17, plus 2 attic rooms on request to flex to 19):
- 2× Superking · 2× King · 3× Double · 1× Twin · 1× Single
- Some bedrooms feature their own washbasin and decorative open fireplaces (not in use)
- 2 attic rooms (1 king + 1 single) available on request for larger groups up to 19
Living spaces designed for groups to gather and find quiet corners:
- Grand drawing room with crimson walls, chandelier and original fireplace
- Cosy snug with log burner for after-dinner unwinding
- Music room with two pianos (a guest favourite for reunions and chamber music)
- Purpose-built bar room — bring your own bottles and host the evening
- Separate events room for dining, party games, milestone celebrations
- Formal dining room seating the whole group
- Large country kitchen with four-oven electric AGA, two American-style fridge-freezers, dishwasher, wine cooler — built for shared cooking
- 4 bathrooms thoughtfully spread across the house, plus 2 ground-floor WCs
Outside — 8 acres that are entirely yours:
- Private lawns, orchard and summer meadow
- Tranquil pond at the foot of the garden with leafy reflections
- Firepit and outdoor dining for long summer evenings
- Life-size garden games
- Charcoal BBQ and outdoor furniture
- Preseli Hills views, big skies, dark skies after dark
- Private parking for 8+ cars down a quiet lane
Best of both worlds — countryside and coast:
A 25–40 minute drive brings you to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park — Newgale, Broad Haven, Barafundle, Tenby and the Coastal Path. Spend the day at the beach, then come home to absolute peace.
Guest Access:
You have the entire house and all 8 acres of grounds for the duration of your stay. The two attic rooms are normally reserved for the owners but can be opened up on request when you need to flex to 19 sleepers. Private on-site parking for 8+ cars; private lane for overflow.
The Neighborhood:
You're in the quiet folds of inland Pembrokeshire, near the village of Clarbeston Road - a peaceful cluster of farms, woods and country lanes between the Preseli Hills to the north and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park to the south. It's the part of the county that locals keep for themselves: properly rural, mostly birdsong and big skies, with everything you need a short drive away.
What's on the doorstep
- The Preseli Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, rise just to the north — bluestone country, where the stones at Stonehenge were quarried. Walks from car-park to summit (Foel Cwmcerwyn, Carn Ingli, Carn Menyn) take 1–3 hours
- Llys-y-frân Reservoir & Country Park — 15 minutes by car. Lakeside trails, paddleboarding, a café and play area; lovely for a slower day
- A handful of excellent country pubs within 10–15 minutes — try The Cross Inn (Clarbeston), The Wolfe Inn (Wolfscastle) and The Salutation Inn (Felindre Farchog) for proper Welsh food and a fire in winter
The towns (15–25 minutes by car)
- Haverfordwest — Pembrokeshire's county town: a Tesco, Morrisons, M&S Foodhall, a Riverside shopping centre, restaurants, the medieval castle ruins
- Narberth — boutique-y market town beloved for delis, indie shops, the Queens Hall and Ultracomida
- Fishguard — pretty harbour town, ferry to Ireland, the famous Lower Town setting
- Cardigan — gateway to north Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion's coast
The coast (25–40 minutes by car) - Whilst you're not on top of the beach, you can choose a different one every day!
- Newgale — a vast 2-mile sweep, brilliant for surf, kites, dog walks
- Broad Haven & Little Haven — golden sands, rockpools, a great pub at Little Haven
- Barafundle Bay — regularly voted one of the UK's best beaches; a short walk in from Stackpole
- Freshwater West — wild, cinematic (filmed for Harry Potter and Robin Hood)
- Tenby — pastel-painted Georgian harbour town, four beaches, ice creams, harbour boats to Caldey Island
- St Davids — Britain's smallest city, the cathedral, Whitesands beach, boat trips to Ramsey Island for seals and porpoises
- The Pembrokeshire Coast Path — 186 miles of national-trail clifftop walking; pick any access point along the coast
For families & groups:
- Folly Farm (15 min) — zoo, vintage funfair and farm; reliably brilliant with kids
- Heatherton World of Activities (25 min) — go-karting, archery, paintball, golf
- Bluestone National Park Resort (20 min) — Blue Lagoon waterpark day passes available
A note on the setting
Penty Parc sits down a private lane on 8 acres of its own — lawns, orchard, summer meadow and a tranquil pond. There are no immediate neighbours, no through-traffic, and after dark you're under some of the darkest skies in Wales. Bring a torch for the walk to the firepit, and look up.
Getting Around:
A car is essential for exploring the wonderful Pembrokeshire countryside and coast.
There is on-site parking by the house for at least 5+ cars, with additional space available if required. The property is accessed via a private lane, making arrival and departure easy for larger groups.
Other Things to Note:
If needed, there is an additional king bedroom and single room in the attic area, offering extra flexibility for larger groups.
There is parking for at least eight cars on site. The private lane leading to the property can also be used for additional parking if required.
Please note that electric vehicle charging is not available at the property. For safety and to protect the home’s electrical system, charging vehicles using household outlets is not permitted.
There are public EV charging stations available in nearby towns around Clarbeston Road, and guests are encouraged to use these during their stay. We’re happy to point you in the right direction if needed.
Interaction with Guests:
Christine & Michael, are available throughout your stay. Our small, dedicated team of four at Salt & City Stays will ensure all your needs are met up to the point of check-in. From answering enquiries to providing recommendations, we are here to assist. You may hear from any of us leading up to your stay
