About this property

Cabin on the Hill, Close to Caves, Parks & Small Town Conveniences

Romantic cabin in Laurelville with spa tub
The Cabin on the Hill features cottage style furnishings with a rustic twist. The flooring is a sustainable art paper floor featuring inlaid fall leaves from the property. Originally built by and home to a young Amish couple that moved to Minnesota with their growing family; we had the cabin moved to our farm on the foot of "the big hill" back in 2005 when we updated it to have electricity, appliances and running spring water. We have an on-demand hot water system, so feel free to fill the footed slipper tub and relax in the hot spring water or shower off after a day of hiking and then kick back in the oversized chair, the round cuddle couch, or the recliner in front of one of the electric fireplaces. Enjoy the remarkable sunsets from the front porch which overlooks Laurel Run Canyon from a picture-perfect vantage point on the hill. Enjoy the night sky, even the Milky Way, like through the veil of darkness only found in the remote night skies. Relax in front of the gas fire pit or slip into the hot tub for a relaxing soak. Enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience in the Hocking Hills offering seasonal farm items such as free-range eggs or berries, that you can prepare in the fully equipped kitchen and enjoy right in the cabin or take with you to enjoy at home. Want to explore the Hocking Hills State Parks? We are a short drive to many of the parks. Want to go horseback riding? The Spotted Horse Ranch is less than a mile from our farm. Or go canoeing or rafting in nearby Logan or rock climbing at the new High Rock Adventures in Rockbridge just off Route 33. Need to grab some groceries, gas or visit a local eatery? We are just 3 miles from Laurelville, featuring the world famous Laurelville cider or stop by The Ridge Inn for Jo's famous donuts! So, there are conveniences and attractions nearby, but they are completely out of site as you go into seclusion at the cabin! Other on-site activities such as walking the trails on the hill overlooking the canyon, barns and pond. Drop a line to catch a fish - we offer catch-and-release bluegill and bass and the occasional turtle from the dock on our spring-fed pond using our simple homemade cane poles. Bait is available in Laurelville, or use a piece of hot dog to catch a bluegill! Bring your hiking boots and enjoy the breathtaking view from the top of the big hill or even spread out a blanket and picnic and enjoy the one of a kind view. Enjoy the overlooking views from the 3/4 wrap around porch. Grill something delicious to eat on the custom charcoal park-style grill pit. The MAIN floor bedroom has a queen sized Serta Perfect Sleeper with Eurotop. The LOFT bedroom has a queen mattress with an foam topper and additional feather bed topper. The walk-out/daylight basement has a high quality queen size pull-out SOFA BED with separate foam topper available for your comfort. Clean bedding and pillows are available for each bed. A round hot tub is available for your enjoyment on the bottom patio. PLEASE NOTE: the cabin is not suited to handicapped folks or small children due to its location and steep staircases, loft ladder and high railings. Although we are avid animal lovers, we do not allow pets as it is dangerous for them and for our animals. We are very careful as we introduce new animals into the environment as our farm animals tend to be very territorial. For your safety and that of our animals, please do not feed the animals. This includes any cat that may want to hang out - if you do not encourage them, they will not hang out as some folks do not care for our outdoor feline friends which are essential to any farm. Wireless internet access, albeit sometimes slow, is available free of charge, as is over the air TV channels depending upon weather conditions on the upstairs Smart TV. The first floor has a smaller Smart TV that is equipped with wireless, a DVD/Blu Ray player and HDMI inputs in case you want to bring along your favorite movie. A selection of board games, cards and puzzles are also available for your entertainment. We had a wonderful time. Clean cabin, everything worked, no issues, just a picture and described

        Great Weekend Retreat

Clean, well appointed, and just what we needed for a relaxing weekend. At nights, we all sat around and watched movies (which was easy to do with the over 100 DVDs). Nice experience. Plan to come back sometime in the future!

        5/5 Excellent

          Great cabin!

Very responsive owners and very accomadating. Cabin is about 20 mins from Old Man's cave, so it is a very quiet setting and very private.

            Great place to stay

This cabin is a great place to stay. Totally secluded. We had 5 people in our party and had plenty of room. Loved the wrap around porch. Owners are very accommodating. Return messages almost immediately. Thinking about rebooking for next year.
