    About this property

    Suwannee River Retreat

Beautiful, newly remodeled 3 bedroom, 2 bath home located on the historic Suwannee River. Get away from it all. Easy access to Fanning Springs (1.5 miles up river) and Manatee Springs (7 miles down river). Bring a boat, or two 2-person kayaks available for use. Great views from the deck and dock that overhangs the river. Very peaceful. Most people that know the Suwannee River feel that the home's location is fantastic, and the best of all the options. The river in this area is very large and grand, especially compared to up river where it can be quite narrow and crowded. It's size makes it great for skiing, tubing, and boating, and dealing with other boaters isn't really an issue. It is far enough up river (about 32 miles by boat) that you don't have the biting yellow flies of the coast, but close enough to boat down to the coast and back for fishing, or spending the day on your own private secluded island beach. The area has very little development as well, so you get the real sense of being in "old world" Florida. It truly is a unique, wonderful experience. Please note: cell service may be limited. Unit does not currently have WIFI or cable TV. This property is quite rustic and remote, and is a great way to get away from it all. However, there is limited access to cellular phone service. Please understand the nature of your get away before booking. Master bedroom with king bed, guest bedroom with king bed, and kids room with two bunk beds each with trundles. Easily sleeps 10. One of the more common questions we get is regarding docking a boat at the property. You have a few options with regards to keeping a boat on the Suwannee River (flow of the river and boat wakes are a problem). Approximately 1/2 mile down the road from our rental house is a public boat ramp which is not very busy, and easy to launch/retrieve your boat. That is the preferred method and would take less than 30 mins. Leaving the boat in the water with the current and other boaters creating wakes is possible, but not optimal. One option would be to tie the boat to the dock which is cantilevered over the river and anchor the aft section in the river (might require swimming to shore unless you are creative). The other would be to tie-off to our floating dock on the adjacent property, but you would need several good boat-bumpers. Again, the current and boat wakes put your boat at risk unless you are careful, and we are not responsible for boat damage or lost boats. There is room to keep a boat, trailer and vehicle at the property.

Don't judge a book by its cover - you will be pleasantly surprised!

The Suwanee River Retreat really is a hidden gem. It is tucked away in the rural setting of the Suwanee, at the end of a long dirt road. And, the exterior of the home is the standard single-story, wooden-clad building often utilized along the river. The interior renovations and layout are a hugely pleasant surprise! The home is very comfortable and spacious. The patio behind the home and deck overhanging the river are a pleasant hangout, along with the fire pit. Only downside was that the grills are not in very good condition. Nevertheless, you will greatly enjoy the Suwanee River Retreat!

        Beautiful and peaceful.

Fantastic place. Wish you would let us rent your big house. We come to Hart Springs every year for our families reunion. I have 4 children and six grandchildren plus my elderly parents. Everything was comfortable and very clean. Had a great time

        5/5 Excellent

Stayed at numerous places on the river and this was the best for location to parks and river access.

            Beautiful and peaceful

We enjoyed our time at the Suwannee River Retreat. The home is very clean and spacious, and the property is gorgeous. We loved the long driveway back to the house. We had everything we needed. We did a lot of exploring in the area and enjoyed seeing Manatee Springs and Devil's Den. The platform out over the river was so nice! Thank you for sharing your home with us!!!
