Booked a room for my Birthday treat & sad to say was highly disappointed by how lack of cleaning & how much dust i had found in Bedroom area, skirting boards dirty back of TV were dirty too . TV -Channels &internet faulty only had a choice of 2 channels !!! Shower also very difficult to turn on mixer taps & wet room floor did not drain water due to bad design. Staff did not seem to care when told them *meal not hot & no roast potatoes & dry* plus head Chef & other staff were sat in a group eating meals on breaks directly in front of Us, in pub bar area. Paid nearly £40 for our Cold dry -meals & we did not enjoy it, so we left half of our food on plate & i had to rush to ladies loo to be Sick !! *Do not recommend to dine at this Pub* OR to stay here.

The room was beautifully clean and modern, and had everything we needed. The room was a cosy or comfort room (5) perfectly big enough. The hotel is right on the river and only 10 min from town centre. Hotel breakfast was delicious and varied...good selection. Had an evening meal here, food was really good and reasonably priced. Hotel was decorated beautifully for Christmas too. Staff were very attentive and polite and very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Hats off to Dean and the rest of the staff for making our stay so wonderful.

The rooms are Beautiful, warm, clean and inviting. The bathrooms are luxurious and a pleasure to shower in. The food in the restaurant is absolutely top class. The I couldnt fault this place and have returned since and will return again and again.

The only minor issues were the duvet cover had a dirty mark on it,which staff immediately changed for us. The loo-roll was loose but this didnt present a problem. All staff friendly,helpful & courteous. Excellent breakfeast ,exceptional value.

Spotless bar, restaurant and room, with very friendly and helpful staff, plus great views of the river and quiet location within a short walk into the centre of Chester. The walk into Chester may not be suitable for some people however as it is quite a steep walk from the river, but there are nice walks along the river.

The room looked so cute when we walked into the door, UNTIL I used the loo.. The toilet paper holder was broken. It just dangled there, hanging out being useless. Then when I went to put my personal toiletries in the shower there was nowhere to put them, except the floor! I'm NOT supposed to bend over, due to lower back surgery last September, BUT I had to do so to pick things up! The water in the shower was a huge nuisance! There are no instructions on how to operate the controls. Which way was hot? I rarely found hot water.. Taking a cold shower in England is NOT my idea of a comfortable shower! I had to take a bird bath in the sink after a long day traveling from America! NOT NICE! The water was hot in the sink. When my husband found the hot water, the water fluctuated too much! It never stayed at a consistent temperature! There was a coffee machine and a tea kettle in the room, but we had no idea how to work the coffee machine, as there were no instructions with that either, so it was useless! I'm an American & I don't drink tea at all.. Not a nice way to start the day.. the coffee packs in the room were unmarked.. pick a pack & see what you get?? The French Press in the restaurant for breakfast was more like a cup of sludge. Not good at all.. I suggest investing in a professional coffee machine that offer more than just one type of coffee.. However, The staff were BRILLIANT! They are what made the experience of staying more pleasant, without them, not great!

We would highlight the relaxed atmosphere, good-value food, and the recent refurbishment of the pub and restaurant, which includes features like a floating beer garden and well-maintained rooms.

Lovely location

We stayed at The Boathouse & Rooms in Chester for one night and really enjoyed our visit. Parking was simple in the little courtyard (we arrived around 4:30pm on a Saturday) and check-in was quick and easy. We stayed in Room 11, which was spacious, spotless and comfortably warm. The bed was a good size, the TV decent, and there was plenty of storage. The bathroom was modern and well-kept too. If I had to pick faults, the WiFi was very slow – my 5G connection worked far better – and a lot of the TV channels didn’t seem to load. It was also a little noisy at times when other guests used the bathroom taps or toilets, but that’s to be expected in an older building. We had drinks outside on the terrace by the river, which was lovely even in October. The private huts are a great idea, though most of the heat lamps could do with a fix. Breakfast in the restaurant the next morning was excellent – everything tasted fresh and well-cooked, and the service from all the staff was friendly and efficient. Overall, it’s a charming place in a great location with plenty of character. A few small tweaks and it would be near perfect.
