About this property

Chatham Village - Lovely 2 BR Apartment in Antique Home

Historic apartments in Chatham
Ship’s Light has looked down Cross Street to Chatham Village Center for more than 180 years. Built and occupied by some of Chatham’s most eminent residents since 1825, it was converted to four housekeeping apartments for summer visitors circa 1945. Lovingly restored by long-time current owners, this gracious antique home offers modern comfort and convenience with the character and charm of a bygone era. The Gifford Buck apartment--the largest of the four apartments--is a comfortable first-floor, 5-room, 2 bedroom, 2 bath gem. Airy and light, the large living room with working fireplace and flat-screen TV occupies the center of the house. The dining room seats 8 and connects to a charming full-sized kitchen with a small breakfast table--or eat and relax on the quiet back porch or side yard with picnic tables and area seating. Two air conditioned bedrooms--one with a queen-sized bed and one with two twins--and two full baths make this apartment perfect for a family. One of the bathrooms also includes a washing machine and dryer. The charm of the apartment is further enhanced by the warm glow of beautifully refinished, wide pine, antique floors and wainscoting. Wi-fi is available throughout the house. Centrally located within a short walking distance of excellent Chatham dining, shopping, movies and band concerts, the house is three blocks from the town salt water beach on Oyster Pond, and one mile from Coast Guard Beach, a great stretch of Atlantic Ocean and dunes. Many individuals, couples and extended families consider Ship’s Light their vacation home. We invite you to join them in making your vacation something special. The Gifford-Buck apartment at Ship’s Light is rented for minimum 3-night stays during the summer and and for minimum 2-night stays during the shoulder and off-seasons. Other units with unique features are also available and the whole house can be rented as a 5-to-6 bedroom home for family gatherings. Contact the owner for details. Keywords:

    Return visit

We have stayed in Ships Light several times over more than 10 years. The units are always clean and the Colemans always helpful. The location in Chatham is wonderful.

      Great place

We loved our experience in this property, which was spacious, clean, and charming!

        Great location and very spacious!

We loved our time at Ship’s Light. The location was great, walking distance to downtown and a short drive to area beaches. The house was very spacious for our family of four. In Chatham we enjoyed Oyster Pond, Hardings Beach, Lighthouse Beach and Cockles Cove. Area restaurants were great, Wild Goose and Squires were nice spots. We also enjoyed great pizza at Sweet Tomatoes and then went to watch an evening ball game at Veterans field. Boston is within driving distance and a day trip included some sightseeing and a Red Sox game. Overall this was a fantastic family holiday!

          Wonderful Accommodations in Chatham

The Gifford Buck apartment at Ship's Light was the perfect home away from home for our family of four. It was quite spacious, the kitchen was well-equipped, and the beds were comfortable. We also loved that we could leave the windows open day and night and enjoy the incredible temperatures (in July) and smell the light fragrance from blooming shrubs around the house. Everything about the home was very warm and welcoming, and we loved the charm and history preserved from a bygone era. The house is perfectly located, within (close) walking distance to downtown Chatham, as well as the Oyster Pond. We enjoyed many walks through beautiful neighborhoods during our stay. The owners were very friendly and replied quickly to my request to locate an iron. Overall, we loved our stay at Ship's Light and would absolutely stay here, again, when visiting Chatham. We highly recommend this property!

            Quintessential Cape Cod

The pictures don't do the Gifford-Buck apartment justice. The apartment is beautifully furnished with character pieces, and you can sense the history of the home. It was very clean and tidy. There was plenty of room for spreading out and making yourself at home. And it was situated in the perfect location, walking distance to everything. If (when) we come back to Chatham, we would definitely stay here again!
