The room was beautiful as was the resort…however, the constant hammering and drilling from construction that we had no forewarning about was terrible. It began bright and early and lasted all day till 5 pm. So do not plan on a nap during the winter season while remodeling is happening. We’ve been going over for years and while we understand remodeling it would’ve been nice to have a heads up.

Due to electrical outage took a one night stay and Patrick at the front desk couldn’t have been more professional or helpful. Meal at the restaurant was just so-so but Rhino (sp) behind the bar was very courteous and protective of a single traveler. Room was nicely appointed especially for a very active beach hotel.

It was no Taj Mahal but was awesome nonetheless. Our room was very clean. This is number one for my wife and I. The view was spectacular. The most memorable thing for us is how friendly and helpful every member of the staff was. Just incredible, we thought we were in some other dimension at times as we interacted with the Tides Hotel members. We highly recommend The Tides not only as the place to stay while in Folly Beach but as a destination. Michael Saski

We arrived late at night after a horrible roadtrip consisting of crappy overpriced hotel after crappy overpriced hotel. Patrick, who checked us in, was such a ray of sunshine - I am still thinking about our brief encounter over two weeks later! I wanted to wake up on the ocean on the last morning of our trip and let me tell you, this hotel did not disappoint. We slept with the sliding glass door open and listened to the waves gently crashing all night long; I never heard another sound. I woke up just in time to witness the most spectacular sunrise, as well as a small pod of dolphins feeding near the end of the pier. We left for home in the early morning (long drive back to Naples, FL!), but I cannot wait to return and explore this area more, and I will positively be staying at the Tides once more when I do.

Great view of the beach. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Towels and bed linens are in good condition. Pillows are extremely firm. Did not get a goodnight sleep due to the pillows. Need to offer softer pillows. Water pressure is great but very slow shower drain. Very heavy sliding glass door. Can hear others opening and closing their sliding doors. Some of the rooms are being updated. We weren't in an updated room.

This trip was for my birthday with my husband. I want to start with the positive feedback about the hotel. The staff was very friendly, polite, and welcoming. The lobby, coffee area, and restaurant were clean, well-maintained, and pleasant to spend time in. However, the negative feedback is mainly about the condition of the rooms. The room we stayed in was poorly maintained. The furniture had rust on it, and the bathroom was in especially bad shape. There was visible mold around the tub and rust throughout the bathroom. The rooms and décor are in serious need of an upgrade, and management should consider investing in improvements. The location of this hotel is amazing it’s very walkable to restaurants, shops, and other attractions. With better room maintenance, this hotel has the potential to be truly great.
