Summary:
A first-floor 1851 antebellum retreat in the heart of Cannonborough, steps from Spoleto Festival and three blocks from King Street. One king bedroom, one twin daybed, and two full bathrooms make this the most intimate suite in the building, ideal for couples, honeymoons, and solo travelers who want space to breathe. Two private porches, a full kitchen, high-speed WiFi, premium bath products, and complimentary parking included. Southbound restaurant is steps from your front door.
The Space:
The suite sits on the first floor of The Charlestonian, a fully restored antebellum estate built in 1851 in Cannonborough, one of downtown Charleston's most walkable and celebrated neighborhoods.
One king bed dressed in high-end linens, complete with a sound machine, and smart charging station at the bedside. The twin daybed in the adjoining space makes the suite comfortably work for three guests without feeling crowded, a couple plus a close friend, a solo traveler who wants a sitting room, or a parent traveling with one child.
Two full bathrooms for one bedroom is rare anywhere, and intentional here. Both are tiled in original Vermont slate quarried in 1851, with hand-hammered nickel-plated vessel sinks, salvaged standing-seam tin backsplashes from the original porch roof, and period water closets sourced from Kent, England.
The full kitchen is equipped for guests who want to actually cook, quality cookware, full glassware, and everything needed for a proper meal in. The living space flows through to a private rear porch and patio, while the front porch offers dedicated seating with a view of the neighborhood and access to the shared Green Egg charcoal grill with complimentary charcoal.
Entertainment: Samsung 4K Smart TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Youtube TV. Premium bath products, hair dryer, and iron. Complimentary parking for one vehicle on premises.
This suite is on the first floor with few stairs, accessible for guests with mobility considerations.
Operating Permit: OP2026-07476

The Neighborhood:
Visitors can enjoy convenient dining options directly next door at Southbound and Ladles Soup across from the apartment. The home is set in Cannonborough, an inviting downtown area blending historic and residential homes. It’s steps away from the College of Charleston, as well as Charleston's finest restaurants and shopping.
Getting Around:
We offer free parking onsite. We are only 3 blocks from Upper King Street, so most guests prefer to walk and explore the city. The beach is 15 minutes away by car. There is also a free shuttle offered by the city that runs along King Street (3 blocks away) to popular stops. Bike rentals are available nearby or you might enjoy trying a pedicab taxi.
Other Things to Note:
We are three blocks from King Street, right in the middle of all Charlestonian activity. Incredible restaurants such as Chubby Fish, Southbound, Verns, 167 Raw, Malagon, Indaco, and Azur. Great places to have drinks are even closer at places like Felix, Stars, Babas, and Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street, such as coastal Italian at Allora or creative Indian at Rivayat. If you want the full Charleston experience, a walking tour or carriage tour is a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter daily and you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started.
