We stayed at Alianthos Suites for a quiet getaway away from the busy center of Chania, and the location was exactly what we wanted. The area is peaceful, and the pool area is lovely for relaxing. We also loved having a semi-private sandy beach within walking distance and the fantastic Irene's Tavern nearby for authentic meals. The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch to start the day.
However, the rooms are quite dated. The bathroom and closets feel like they haven't been touched in years, and we were surprised that the room safe required an extra fee to use. Even with sea-facing rooms, it was quite dark inside during the day. Practically, it was a bit frustrating: they still use physical keys instead of cards, the WiFi was non-existent in the rooms (only worked by the pool), and the kitchen' is just an old stove meant for reheating, not cooking. A microwave would have been much more useful. Great for the views and peace, but the interiors need modernization.
