Very Good

Arrived late. Rooms were overbooked and we were put in a large, dirty cabin. 2nd day we were moved to a room more like what we booked. It was clean, but had no internet access. Internet came on the day we were departing.
A good place to land for a couple of days. We stayed in a room, which was a decent size. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. We did not experience any problems during our stay. Beautiful Chama River behind the lodge.
I was in a double queen size room, better than chain hotes.I would even stay here long term if needed. Now, i would like to see the mini fridge upsized to a door fridge or placed on a table, not on the floor. Fridge on the for us the only thing I'd change.
I’ve driven by this charming log cabin and log motel room resort on the Chama River many times on my way to Santa Fe over the past few years and always wished that I had time to spend a night there. That opportunity finally occurred a couple of days ago and I made a last minute reservation to spend one night. My years of imagining a stay were not disappointed: the office staff at check-in were friendly and helpful - even offering me a bottle of cream from the office refrigerator to use for my early morning coffee, saying “Just leave it in your mini-fridge and we’ll get it in the morning.” - and took the time to suggest a walk down to the path to the river if I had time (I took the time and it was beautiful). My room was spotlessly clean, charmingly rustic but well-appointed, and cozily warm despite freezing temperatures overnight. I hope that I’m able to stop here again for a longer stay and maybe try out one of the cabins. In the meantime, thanks for a lovely overnight stay!
This review is for the hotel portion, room 33 only. I didnt see any other rooms or cabins.
The room is very run down. It smelled like mold, had sticky drops if something on the bathroom floor, electrical outlets didnt work, lights kept flickering (electrical not bulb issue), and I could hear some kind of critter eating something on or in the building in the hallway most of the night. I would recommend an investment by the owners into fixing and remodeling. I do not recommend staying in that room.
Very unsafe. Lighting brightened and dimmed indicating substandard wiring. Very dark at top of stairs, had to use flashlight to see keyhole. GFCI receptacle in bathroom lost power when light switch turned off indicating GFCI wired wrong. Should not be wired through light, should be dedicated circuit to comply with code. Section of wall had been removed in stairwell appeared someone working on plumbing or something. Person that check us in was dirty. Appeared to be maintenance man. Very dirty hands etc. Main door deadbolt inoperative, thumb latch on knob only locked for security. Will never stay here again.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
This was about average for Chama, I’d guess. Old facilities, towels torn and frayed.
Bed was comfortable but room had no cups for drinking and no hair dryer. First hotel room we’ve stayed in that didn’t have drinking cups and a hair dryer. It was also more expensive then most rooms we book.
My room smells funky. As soon as I opened the door the smell slapped me in the face.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Beautiful area. Our room are old and worn down. The lamp shade was crushed and chairs are soooo old. The shower curtain is old. The knob on shower fell off. The place is super cute and would be so nice with a little money put into it... updates and nicer furniture/bedding/decor/etc. The staff is very nice and helpful and pleasant. We interacted briefly with 3 different people and all were nice and helpful.

Rooms were clean and safe, but showing their age a bit. Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking lot needs better lighting.
