Long Drive Home and out 300+

We came to what we thought was a quaint motel by the sea. We were greeted by a run down in need of TLC cottage with a very strong unpleasant odor. We opened all the windows and thought fresh ocean air would do the trick. We met our family for a birthday dinner and spent 3 hours away from the cottage. On arrival back to the cottage the odor was still present and on further investigation found to be coming from the couches. We also found the floors to be very dirty and to say the beds were old and dilapidated is putting it politely. We were unable to sit on the couches and not able to sleep in the bed and incidentally once we pulled back the sheets found sand indicating that the sheets were unchanged from the previous guest. We decided to cut our losses and drive home at 1:30 in the morning, arriving at 4:00 am. We paid over $300.00 with fees. We called the hotel and were told that we needed to contact hotels.com as the hotel had paid a commission to hotels.com and they couldn’t give a refund but would give us a discount on a room. I think I’ll pass!

The beach is magnificent! The room was fine and we loved the ocean view. Kitchenette was nice but the signs to store food a certain way and wash dishes or you’ll be assessed $10 were unfriendly. The older woman who checked me in was downright rude. The pool deck has mold and algae. This place has potential but beware the vibes.

I requested an ocean view and the sunset did not disappoint! The rooms are themed rooms. I was in the safari room. Fun! The kitchen area was clean and stocked with everything I needed.

Stay in Yachats

We spent several days in Yachats after visiting family nearby. Lovely place, right on the coast. Great service from Crystal at the front desk. Rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Loved the balcony view of the ocean, watching sunsets and whales. Often times we had the expansive beach to ourselves. We loved the games, volleyball, tether-ball & horseshoes in the yard. We were not able to use the pool or hot tub
