SMALL HOUSE "LA PIERRE DE PIERRE"

The house, built in the 18th century entirely of exposed local stone, consists of a kitchen and dining room in the basement—where there is also a living room with a two-person sleeper sofa—and, on the first floor, two single beds or, alternatively, one double bed, plus a one-and-a-half-person sofa bed and a bathroom with a shower. The all-stone construction, combined with its location below other buildings—both above and to the side—ensures a warm environment in winter and a cool one in summer.

The medieval town of Ceglie Messapica is steeped in history, featuring a district that includes the ducal castle, (a must-see) just a few dozen meters from the house, consisting of many ancient buildings adorned with Latin inscriptions, with very narrow alleys and stairways made of original stone. It’s also full of charming eateries rich in tradition, much like the nearby twin town of Ostuni. In Ceglie Messapica, just like in Ostuni, every evening in the summer is an event and a cause for celebration. The surrounding countryside, lush with centuries-old olive trees, features countless trulli and many farms that produce and sell dairy products and other traditional agricultural goods—and where events are also held. Every Saturday, there’s a large weekly market with direct sales from producers. Alternatively, there are the two seas—the Adriatic and the Ionian—at roughly the same distance, where, depending on the wind and a little secret we’ll reveal to you, you can choose day by day where to go to always find calm waters.
