The apartment was clean. The kitchen was stocked with equipment needed for light meals: coffeemaker with a starter pack of coffee pods, toaster, stovetop, microwave, and large toaster oven. Washing machine, - no dryer but a clothesline off the back balcony. The couch and 4 chairs in the photo have been replaced. The new couch has less cushioning, and the 4 chairs are white plastic. The shared stairway walls up to the apartment - 37 steps - need to be replastered and painted, was peeling, and if you brushed up against it, you had white dust all over your clothing. The heating worked well, keeping us sufficiently warm in 45 - 60 degree (F) - 12 to 15 C - weather. Beds were adequate.
Problems: The kitchen most evenings smelled faintly like smoke probably coming from some other apartment in the building. (We chose this apartment because it was non-smoking.)
If you like the nightlife, this neighborhood was hopping on Thursday through Sunday nights with music and comradary until midnight or even 2 am. A bit too noisy for us. The daytime noise levels were also louder with live music: it was fun!
Location: we were right off the Castello piazza. Just outside the apartment there were several bar/restaurants, and one outdoor pizza place. The Duomo piazza is closer to a 10 minute walk, which we did every day to get to more restaurants. On the walk to the duomo were plenty of small stores for needed kitchen items and souvenirs. The street is pedestrian only from 7pm to 7am (mostly).
