As always, room was clean & comfortable, we enjoyed a swim in a very clean pool, both dinner and breakfast were delicious with plenty of choice. Staff were friendly, polite and attentive, they are always so helpful.
Nice, old fashioned hotel, with beautiful dining and tea rooms, lying in the middle of splendid trees and green fields (mostly part of the golf course). Bedroom is lacking a bit on the soundproof, but for the rest nothing to complain about. Excellent breakfast and diner.

The service in the restaurant was superb.
Our bedroom door needs rehanging or planing, very difficult to open and shut without causing a loud bang. Bathroom cold tap very weak pressure. Bathroom vanity mirror light not working. One bed side lamp not working. Room 117.
Beautiful old stately home in breathtaking grounds staff there very friendly and helpful would go back in a heartbeat

Had 2 rooms for a wedding at a nearby venue…..unfortunately our rooms were not available due to us arriving before noon.
Reception arranged changing facilities and for our overnight bags to be taken to our rooms later as our wedding did not finish till midnight
Rooms were slightly dated but clean with tea/coffee water cookies
Breakfast in the morning was excellent with a great cooked buffet cereals danish pasteries etc etc
(Also small ala carte menu for eggs/pancake/ mackerel)
Enjoyable stay although we spent very little time in the hotel
All staff were excellent reception -bar and at breakfast
Unwelcoming reception staff. Very tired hotel. Our room key had the number hand written on a piece of paper sellotaped to the fob. Good room size. Room tea and coffee items basic quality. Dinner and breakfast food quality okay. Meal service staff friendly.
Overpriced.
We loved the hotel and beautiful surroundi ng.
However check in/out dissapointed us.
After a long drive room wasnt ready at 3pm
On checkout we were given a bill for room dinner and drinks which we did not have but which had our room no on.
Were asked over 6 times are you sure you didnt eat this in restaurant luckily we had reciept for drinks had paid for at the time we had also pre paid for our room.
We were delayed for about 20/30 mins the staff kept asking us are you sure you did not eat/drink this ,are you sure you paid for your room.
Other guests were queing and could hear this conversation.
A manager was called and they realised a previous guest on check out had mentioned their bill was not correct assume their dinner etc was billed to our room no by mistake.
Were finally allowed to leave with not too much of an apology for the humiliation.
Were planning on stopping off again on our return journey as its a lovely but are having second thoughts due to poor administration.
Lovely hotel, staff and beautiful grounds. Cant wait to stay again.

There is a stark contrast between the magnificent main entrance of the palace and the entrance of the hotel rooms on the left wing of the building.
This access looks very poor, it resembles instead the back door entrance of a laundry room, it should be certainly improved.
We had a fantastic stay at The Cally Palace Hotel. I visited with my son, daughter-in-law, and grandson — the boys enjoyed a round of golf while we girls headed to the Arts and Crafts Festival in Kirkcudbright. The hotel is full of charm, with beautiful surroundings, comfortable rooms, and very friendly staff. The food was excellent, and the whole atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back!
Cally is a grand old place which we enjoyed staying at, in a lovely setting. It is tired in places but homely and we will stay again. The dining room needs windows that can be opened as even at breakfast it is a bit airless and hot. The beds are comfortable and the bar and dining staff are attentive.
