The Buckeye Cabin | Lakefront Porch & Fall Escape

Summary:

Take in the beauty of fall in Cashiers from The Buckeye Cabin, a cozy one-bedroom retreat with a private porch overlooking Cashiers Lake. Spend your days exploring colorful mountain scenery, waterfalls, and nearby shops and restaurants, all within easy reach. Return to peaceful lake views, a friendly game of darts, or a relaxing evening by the shared fire pit. A welcoming home base for an autumn getaway in the mountains.

The Space:

The Buckeye Cabin is a thoughtfully restored 1BR/1BA retreat for up to two guests, featuring a private lake-facing porch with beautiful views across Cashiers Lake.

Inside, you'll find a comfortable living space with a kitchen, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a dartboard, and the everyday essentials for a relaxing stay.

Originally a U.S. Forest Service cabin in Waynesville, Buckeye was relocated to Cashiers Lake and fully renovated in 2021. Its historic character and modern comforts create a welcoming setting for couples and solo travelers.

Start your morning with coffee overlooking the water, spend the afternoon exploring the surrounding mountains, and return to your own cozy cabin just a short walk from the heart of Cashiers.

Guest Access:

You'll have the entire cabin and its private lake-facing porch to yourself, along with free on-site parking.

Shared outdoor amenities include a lakeside gazebo with bench seating, communal fire pit, charcoal grill, and an outdoor sink.

The gazebo offers another inviting place to enjoy morning coffee, read a book, or simply take in the lake and mountain scenery.

The Neighborhood:

The Buckeye is part of Cashiers Lake Cabins, a small historic cabin community near the heart of Cashiers. Local shops, restaurants, coffee, and other favorites are within easy walking distance.

In autumn, the surrounding mountains come alive with seasonal color, making Cashiers an excellent home base for scenic drives, waterfall hikes, and exploring nearby Highlands.

Getting Around:

Free parking is available on-site. Several shops and restaurants in central Cashiers are within walking distance, but a car is recommended for exploring nearby waterfalls, hiking trails, scenic overlooks, Highlands, and other mountain destinations.

Other Things to Note:

The Buckeye enjoys a lakefront setting with a private porch overlooking Cashiers Lake. It is one of several cabins on a compact shared property, so neighboring cabins are nearby and outdoor amenities are shared.

The property offers lake views but does not provide direct guest access to the water.

Buckeye is best suited to guests who appreciate lake views, historic character, walkability, and convenient access to Cashiers rather than a secluded or highly private mountain retreat.

Buckeye is not pet-friendly. Guests traveling with dogs are welcome to explore our pet-friendly Birch, Hemlock, and Cedar cabins.

Buckeye In NC... cashiers Cabin.

Wanting a five day getaway to Cashiers NC I looked through VRBO (and other offerings) and found a cluster of small cabins walkable to central Cashiers. The property manager was very friendly and helpful along with the Cabin being as described, easy check-in, clean and appropriately stocked. I anticipate returning to this Cabin group in the future.

Adorable

such a cute place, small, quaint, perfect for several days. We stayed in the cabin facing the lake. I like it best since it had the covered porch that we enjoyed for some afternoon showers. Need to stock just a little better with cooking pans etc.. Didn't have a skillet but went and bought one and left it. Also, wished there had been a grill on the property. Manager was really nice and accommodating. highly recommend.

Cozy Cabin on the Lake

I have owned a house in Cashiers for 20 years, but recently sold it and have started renting. This property represented arguably the best value I've gotten from a number of rental properties in the area. Its only one big room, but was super cozy, nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. It also sits on Cashiers Lake, which unfortunately was drained for work on the lake, but is ordinarily full and beautiful. The location, walking distance to the crossroads, is unbeatable. Only thing I'd recommend is bring a large cooler and ice because the fridge and freezer space is very limited in the kitchenette. Will stay here again I'm sure!
