We had a very difficult start, to find (without any notification) that the pool was out of use for refurb. We were steered towards pool at neighbouring property, Portswood. After some strong representations from ourselves, the issue was picked up, with good grace, by Simon and Melissa who - for us - saved the reputation of the hotel. The pool reopened looking good on our last day.

When I was staying there the renovating the pool would be nice to know about that before I turned up. Yes there was another pool to use but it was a bit of a hike. The other thing is a little bit disgruntled about the flexibility. I had to change my plans and I gave him three days notice to shorten my trip by a day. They were capacity and probably rented out my room but they wouldn’t give me a credit for the last day.

The swimming pool was being rebuilt. No notification of this was given on booking with Hoteks.com. The noise was terrible with drilling throughout the day. Through breakfast to early evening. I videoed the carnage and will be uploading to social media.

Unfortunately the pool was being refurbished and we had a slight panic before check in as the hotel sent a confirmation through the day before arrival with the wrong dates. I was looking for a hotel close to the V&A Waterfront where I could walk to the waterfront and feel safe. This hotel fit the bill and I have to say it felt really safe walking the few blocks to the waterfront even when it was dark. Location wise, it was perfect for me. The front desk staff was also excellent. I dealt with a number of them and they were uniformly helpful, friendly and professional. The hotel also serves up a very good buffet breakfast. Highly recommended.
